My Top Must Have Denim Brands

July 2, 2021

This has been another highly requested post. Since the start of the pandemic, I really haven’t worn denim. Now that things are reopening, I have really been on the hunt for good denim. I decided instead of sharing specific jeans, I would share the brand since denim really fits everyone differently. These denim brands have become my go to when I actually put on jeans.

My go to for denim is something that fits my curvier body well. I have a smaller waist and bigger thighs so I tend to gravitate towards brands that either are made for that specifically or have a line for people like me. As the weather continues to get warmer, I thinking finding a good pair of denim shorts or jeans is so crucial to your summer wardrobe!

Topshop

Honestly, Topshop has been my go to denim since high school. I was the biggest “Jamie” Jean fan and had them in like every color. Topshop jeans are my favorite because yes they are denim, but they have a stretch to them. It’s weird because they are not jeggings but they fit like them.

I have a lot of Topshop jeans in all different styles. I find that they fit well but are definitely pricy. One thing I’ve come to realize is sometimes you just need to make the investment and spend the extra bit. It is so worth it when you finally find a good pair of denim that the price often doesn’t even matter.

American Eagle

I didn’t think it was possible for me to find jeans that actually fit until I tried AE’s curvy line. Unfortunately it is online only, so It was a bit of trial and error to find the right size but when I did, it was life changing. This curvy line is made for people like me who have a smaller waist and thicker thighs. The jeans perfectly fit my waist and don’t leave that weird gap. I also love that they make a lot of styles in this curvy line.

AE is often known for their denim so I was pleasantly surprised when I also found shorts in the curvy line as well. I usually never wear denim shorts because they just don’t fit me. I actually got two pairs of shorts for this summer because they fit so well. The pricing on this denim brand was pretty accurate for what I would have expected to spend but they have a lot of sales where the denim is by one get one with a percentage off.

I honestly think AE denim is my new go to because of how well the fit was. I usually wear a size 6 or 8 in pants. For these, I ordered an 8 and they fit like a glove. Perfectly fit me around the waist and were actually baggy on the leg for the mom jeans I purchased. I highly recommend giving them a try if you are losing your mind with finding denim.

As you can see, my denim brands list is short. I really only purchase denim from these two places because they honestly fit the best. It’s so hard for me to want to try anything else because I seriously love all of my denim. Let me know if the comments below your favorite denim brands. I always so interested to hear what works well for others!

My Spring Clothing Haul 2021

March 26, 2021

I feel like I haven’t purchased new clothes since last year this time. This spring clothing haul is probably the first time since March of last year that I purchased normal clothes, not just sweats and loungewear. I am so excited for the weather to get warmer and I thought I would share some of the pieces I’ve collected so far for spring 2021. Spring is the perfect time to experiment with new looks and styles because it’s not too hot or too cold. You can really go either way with whatever look you choose!

Matching Set
spring clothing haul 2021

This matching set from Good Tuesday is the perfect two piece set for spring. It came with a bralette and the matching bike shorts in this pretty blue color. As many of you know, I am definitely a neutrals gal but I found this to be the perfect pop of pattern and color for spring. This is sold out on their website but there are a lot of other cute pieces for spring. I personally love their bralettes too!

Athleisure

This next outfit is a full Amazon fit. I’m really into the althleisure look for spring and Amazon has some great pieces that are affordable. This cropped sweatshirt was only $29.99 and comes in so many colors. Perfect to throw on over a sports bra or a tank top and head out for the day. Stay tuned for next week’s post because I’ll be sharing all of my top Amazon Workout Favorites!!

Good Jeans
spring clothing haul 2021

If you know me, you know jean shorts usually aren’t it for me. I made it my mission to find myself shorts this season that fit well and are comfortable. These are the mom high rise shorts from American Eagle. I am literally obsessed with their curvy line. I cannot begin to tell you how great it is that they make denim that is snug at my waist but has enough room at my thighs. If you haven’t tried AE before, run don’t walk to get your hands on these shorts!

Nicer Tops

Sticking with American Eagle, I wanted to start building up my nicer shirts. I felt like I gave up on wearing fancier tops last year but I knew when I saw these that they were perfect. I love the simplicity of the cream one and the pop of color and fun of the pink. Both are basics but are fun to incorporate and style this spring.

Accessorize
spring clothing haul 2021

The final piece that I wanted in my spring clothing haul were baseball hats. I wore a beanie most of the winter so finding a good baseball cap was at the top of my spring accessory list. This one I found from Lululemon. I love the pale pastel pink and think it will look great with an all black look.

When shopping for this spring clothing haul, I wasn’t trying to redo my wardrobe but I wanted pieces to ease myself back in to wearing real outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up my sweats but I am so looking forward to having places to go and putting together real outfits again.

Let me know if you liked this spring clothing haul! I usually don’t do them but thought it would be fun to share my post pandemic pieces and how I’m looking to transition to spring from winter.

Best Women’s Loungewear Pieces

February 19, 2021

Where I live, February is one of the coldest months of the year. Temperatures are often single digits and there is always a chance for snow. My style switches from looking good to staying warm and comfy. I’ve complied my list of best women’s loungewear pieces that I cannot live without. This list has everything you need to keep you comfy and warm, while also stylish this winter.

The Matching Set

  • VS Pink Pullover $39.95
  • VS Pink Campus Jogger $46.95

This trend has recently taken off during quarantine and I’m here for it. There is no better feeling then having sweatpants and a sweatshirt that match because it helps you look a little more put together. This set that I’m wearing is actually from Victoria’s Secret Pink.. shocking I know. I poked around on their website and was so surprised to see that their signature logo was not plastered all over the clothing. One of the reasons I turned away from Pink was for that reason. I couldn’t stand wearing clothes with the brand in giant glitter but the logo is small and discrete. It helps to make this matching set looking definitely more expensive and almost like something from Aritzia or Urban.

The Perfect Leggings

best women's loungewear
Lululemon Align Leggings $98

No matter the season, leggings are always a staple for me. They’re perfect for staying warm and dressing up or down an outfit. I’ll throw on leggings for a workout and even just running errands. I truly believe they are versatile and are the epitome of the athleisure style. Leggings also go great with winter shoes like boots and sneakers, so why wouldn’t you take advantage of this comfy time! My go to legging brand will always be Lululemon. I am probably their Aligns’ biggest fan. I know they’re pricy but let me tell you, they are worth it for how soft they are and they last as long as you take care of them.

Socks Aren’t Just for Warmth

women's socks
Hanes Women’s Crew Socks $10.99

Crew socks have definitely come a long way in the past few years. I personally never wore them until they somehow made a comeback. Whether you’re wearing boots or even sneakers, a crew sock is the perfect accent for any outfit. Obviously you aren’t going to wear them pulled all the way up but I love the look of them scrunched up on top of leggings or just peeking out of my UGGs. I think this is one of the best women’s loungewear trends because you actually get to take advantage of the comfort and coziness of the sock.

Cozy Boots

best women's loungewear
Ugg Mini Boots $150

I know UGGs might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I wouldn’t survive winter without them. They are my go to shoe because I don’t have to put much thought or effort in. Like I mentioned above, I’ve been styling them with a taller sock so the color peeks out at the top. I also just think you can’t go wrong with anything that’s warm and cozy during cold months. My favorite type are the mini ones. I have had the tall and the short, but the mini gives you enough warmth and comfort without losing the definition of you leg.

Bralettes

best women's loungewear
Wilfred Tiny Tank $30

You probably weren’t expecting to see this on my list for winter but finding a good bralette is essential to loungewear. I cannot tell you how great it is to find a bra that is soft and so comfy for those days you’re just hanging out, literally. Bralettes are my go to with sweatpants and a sweatshirt. We often forget to think of our undergarments as loungewear but we want to be comfy and supported. I love these from Aritzia because they’re made out of a thicker material that keeps you supported but not uncomfortable.

I hope my list of best women’s loungewear helps to keep you cozy and warm for the rest of the winter. These are all staple pieces in my wardrobe to stay comfy but also a little stylish as the weather stays so cold. Be sure to leave a comment below letting me know you loungewear must haves!

Staple Summer Pieces

July 13, 2020

Whether you’re hanging at home or venturing out this summer, I have the perfect staple summer pieces in this post! I won’t lie, summer is such a hard season for me to want to put outfits together. It’s usually just really hot and I can’t be bothered to get too involved in a look. I do love having great basics that are staple summer pieces so that no matter what you’re doing, you always look put together!

Crop- Top Tanks
staple summer pieces

If you know me, you know I live in these all year long for lounge wear. In the summer though, I especially love to just throw these on with literally any bottom and I’m good to go. For me, tanks like these double as a bra so I can wear this with anything and I’m ready for the night or day. These tanks are from Wilfred by Artizia and are $30. They do usually go on sale but you can find similar ones on Amazon! For reference, I ordered a size small.

Over Sized T- Shirts
staple summer pieces

I realize I’m late on this trend but I love this for summer. Over sized tees are literally the comfiest thing to sleep in so why not wear them out too? I pair mine with biker shorts and chunky sneakers. It makes me look like I actually put effort into my outfit when in reality I’m so comfortable. I got this t-shirt on Nasty Gal. Unfortunately, this one is sold out so I link a similar one that is only $20! Mine is a size large.

Biker Shorts

These are absolutely a staple piece for summer and I am going to give you a hack for them. I didn’t like biker shorts on me for the longest time. I’m short and I have thick legs so they never looked flattering, until I realized I needed to buy shorter ones. Now, I wear these all the time instead of denim shorts. I absolutely can’t stand shorts in the summer so these are a great alternative! These are on Amazon for $19.99 and are one size!

Silk Pajamas
staple pieces for summer

There is no better feeling than a shower after a hot day and going to sleep in AC. To elevate this feeling, I add in silk pajamas and it is everything! In the summer I tend to not wear matching pajamas as often as the fall and winter but I couldn’t resist when I saw these. I love that they’re both shorts and short sleeved but are the cutest color. This set is from Nasty Gal and is only $20!! They’re sold out in this color but I linked two other really cute colors. I got these in a size large because Nasty Gal tends to run small, but I could’ve done a medium too!

Over Sized Hoodie
staple summer pieces

This might seem weird and you’re probably wondering why I have a sweatshirt in my staple pieces for summer post. I kid you not, I have been living in hoodies because my house gets so cold in the AC on! I also love running errands with this and biker shorts because the stores are freezing this time of year. Also, pro tip, hoodies are usually on sale this time of year because no one needs them so you can seriously stock up for winter! This is the nicest hoodie I have and it is from Nasty Gal! It’s currently $20 and I got a size large.

As you can see, I like to keep it comfy and casual in the summer. With everything going on in the world today, I’m also not doing as much traveling as I usually do so I’m keeping it super simple. Let me know your staple pieces for summer or any other blog posts you’d like to see!

Where I’ve Been…

December 1, 2019

In life I believe we all go through phases in our lives when we’re feeling the least creative or unmotivated to do things we love. For me, I was really dealing with that during November. I love blogging and taking/posting Instagram photos but I soon found myself drowning from school work, my internship, new puppy, and dance work. I felt like my life was fully out of my control and the stress I was under just kept piling up.

I knew that my blog would take some sort of side position in my life once school started back up but I didn’t realize that it would become my last priority. I had so many other things on my plate that my energy was going towards that trying to write blog posts just became mechanic. I was writing merely just to not miss my Wednesday-Thursday deadline. I often would forget to announce the new post on Instagram on my story and I haven’t even been consistently posting on Instagram.

For something that was supposed to be a fun side hustle, it turned into in my eyes my biggest failure. Over the summer my analytics were threw the roof when I was posting consistently. After realizing how much I’ve neglected my blog, looking at my analytics is painful. This paired with the stresses of everyday life left me not at all wanting to blog. I had just too much on my plate that I couldn’t even allow myself to just blog for fun, I turned it into basically a competition for myself.

I finally realized something needed to change in mid November, when I actually stopped uploading. I let my last few scheduled posts go up but I just took the time off to not write blogs and focus on one area of my life at a time. I got my recital dances picked and somewhat choreographed, Sky’s older so she is much less needy, and my internship ended so I had free time again during the week. Finally, I just had to focus on my schoolwork and my puppy and I had the down time I was so desperately looking for.

In that time though, of course I couldn’t sit completely still. I started really posting on Sky’s Instagram and I swear it has really taken off. She has 81 followers in like 2 weeks of consistent posts and I realized how much FUN social media is. When I was doing it for my blog, it seriously became a chore and with Sky, I get to interact with other dogs and the dog moms behind the accounts. This really helped to inspire me to get back to blogging and actually having a desire to want to post. (Follow Sky @skythefrenchgirl)

Blogging never was something to get me Instagram followers or gain lots of money easily. Blogging was an outlet creatively for me and a way to show future employers that I am capable and able to help build an online brand. When I started to focus on the artificial and fake aspects of the internet, I lost myself and the reasons I love doing what I do. Even if you’re not a blogger, the lessons I’ve learned from having my blog can be applied anywhere. You need to remember why you’re doing something and make that the reason you do it. I love sharing my life and my ideas and my style with my audience and that’s what matters most. The numbers don’t matter and they shouldn’t affect why you want to do what you love.

So that’s where I’ve been. I really have been doing some soul searching and I can confidently say I’m back to blogging regularly. My podcast also will be back starting in January. I needed some time to get some better equipment and plan out more podcasts.I will always have a new blog post up on Sundays at 4pm EST but I am not sure yet if I will be posting on another day or just twice a week in general. I will keep you posted and let you all know once I’ve figured that out! Thank you all so much for sticking with me, it really means the world to me.

Be sure to follow me on my socials because those are also coming back hot!

Jackets for Fall You Can’t Live Without

October 23, 2019

My favorite fall accessory is a jacket. Jackets during fall are the perfect accent to any outfit and are generally going to be your statement piece because it’s going to be most visible. Jackets for fall are the first thing people will see because it’s not like summer where you can leave the house without one. I’ve gathered all of my favorite fall jackets for you to hopefully break down the idea that jackets have to be bulky and made out of weird materials. These jackets for fall are perfect for all style tastes!

The Peacoat

jackets for fall, peacoat

This is a classic fall/winter jacket for me. It might not be the most warm but it gives off a really classy, put together vibe. I suggest having a peacoat in a few different colors so that you’ll have one for all of the events you need to go to and it can match your outfit perfectly. My peacoat is from J Crew a few seasons ago but here is a link to a similar one!

The Puffer

Now puffers might be a little more winter related but I love starting to wear them on those cold fall nights. I have two really cute puffers here with different material. The white is a classic winter jacket material but the cut makes it so flattering. It’s boxy and slightly cropped so it would look great with a workout outfit or anything street style related. On the other image, I have a suede pink puffer. I’m obsessed with this because it gives the classic puffer a really fun twist. The suede puffer is from Abercrombie but the other is from Target. Here’s a link to the similar one!

The Denim

jackets for fall, denim jacket

I love love love a denim jacket with a hoodie. I think it gives such a cool and cozy vibe. Denim jackets scream fall to me and I couldn’t imagine fall fashion without one. I like to get my denim jackets for fall a little more oversized so that I am able to layer with them. It helps to make it so much easier when I’m not trying to shove my bulky sweatshirt into a cropped jacket. I also think it could be fun to get a colored denim jacket. I know black ones are really cool but I also think a red one could be perfect for fall. Here’s the link to my exact one!

The Teddy

jackets for fall, teddy jacket

These were huge last year but I think that they’re back again this year. The I.am.Gia craze might be over but nearly every store has some sort of teddy jacket. I’m obsessed with mine from garage when I want to be extra cozy and warm. I definitely don’t wear this jacket out as often but I think it is a staple in most people’s wardrobes. Here’s a link to a target dupe!

The Fun Ones

jackets for fall

I am literally so obsessed with a fun jacket for fall. I love this pink fuzzy one from Lulus but I also am obsessed with any kind of statement color jackets. I have a gorgeous yellow from Brooks Brothers but I think statement jackets for fall are a must. Find one you’re obsessed with and just rock it and live it.

The Leather

jackets for fall

I had to finish off this post with my all time favorite fall jacket, a leather one. Leather jackets are the perfect accent to fall because of their texture and warmth. Adding a scarf to a leather jacket is the perfect accessory to any fall outfit. This one is from Topshop and is real leather but you can totally get a faux leather one for much cheaper.

I think fall jackets are so important in putting together the best fall outfits. Jackets are what people will see so you have to make sure you’re choosing wisely. I’m a bit jacket obsessed but for good reason, not only are jackets for fall key to keeping you warm they also are great to add to any outfit. Check out my last fashion post here. What’s your favorite type of fall jacket?

Fall Fashion Must Haves

October 2, 2019

Contrary to what the weather man is saying, it is fall according to the calendar which means its finally time for fall fashion. Fashion blogs are my absolute favorite posts to do and fall fashion makes it all worth it. When I think of fall I absolutely think of booties, sweaters, and a good statement jacket. Having these simple accessories as staples in your wardrobe will make creating outfits so quick and easy.

My first must have is a cozy sweater. With my new internship, although its hot outside its so cold in the office. Having a cozy sweater not only keeps me warm but it also adds to whatever I’m wearing. I find that a big chunky sweater or cardigan really gives any outfit that fall look but gives you the freedom with layers to not be sweating. These two cardigans are from Topshop and were $68. Although pricy, I had to jump on them because they are the perfect chunky oversize cardigan that I have been looking for.

My second must have are a good pair of suede booties. I do love leather but I find that the texture of a suede bootie gives off a comfier, cozier vibe. I know booties are often times hard to find that you like, but my go to fall shoe store is always Steve Madden. They always have the cutest shoes and are really up on the trends of the seasons. These booties I have had for 3 seasons now and they’re still really in great shape. I highly recommend Steve Madden not just for fall but for good quality shoes that will last you.

My final fall outfit must have is a good statement jacket. Whether the jacket is denim or leather, it nonetheless really helps to make the outfit. I love this black leather jacket from Topshop but I also find myself gravitating towards oversized jean jackets with hoodies. I really love the look of it and its definitely so cozy. Fall is perfect to try out new jacket styles too because its not cold enough to where you only want to wear your heavy puffer jacket.

Fall fashion is seriously my favorite time of year. It’s cool enough to break out sweaters but its never as miserably cold as winter is. Fall is also a major time for fashion trends with fall fashion week so there’s always fashion inspiration everywhere. I hope my must haves help you in your fall fashion endeavors. Let me know in the comments below your fall must haves and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @cassiedenisco!

Comfy Clothes for Campus Style

August 19, 2019

One of the serious perks of online school is that I generally don’t have to get up and dressed everyday. It’s truly a blessing but sometimes I do feel like I want to at least look somewhat together but still comfy since I’m not really going out anywhere. My wardrobe has transitioned to more leggings, joggers, long sleeves and hoodies but I really like to try to buy things that I could possibly wear out if I go anywhere. I mean, I don’t need to look like a bum all the time.

Here are my favorite stores to get the comfiest back to school clothes!

Victoria’s Secret Pink

I seriously love VS Pink because of their comfy material. They have a cool, comfy campus vibe and that’s exactly what I would want to wear if I were at school or at home. From leggings to cute bralettes, VS Pink seriously has you covered in the comfy cute department. Make sure you utilize the Pink Nation app because it usually has all the deals in it and keeps you up to date on when things go on sale!

Target

Have you been in Target recently? Their Stars Above and Colsie lines are serious dreams come true. The material is so comfortable and soft. I like that they’re comfortable like pajamas but they have cute styles that you could wear them out in public and not look too bummy. I also love Target because its so affordable for us college students! (PS Click the picture to shop the set)

Old Navy

I used to hate Old Navy, like seriously could not even walk through the store because for the longest time they just didn’t have anything cute but Old Navy is really on the come up. I love their athletic line because for the prices, the quality is pretty great. I also love that their athletic line is really tailored to athleisure so you get the comfort of athletic clothes but they actually look pretty cool and put together. Like seriously how cute is this matching set??

One thing that I always like to stress is that you should never pay too much for clothes. With trends changing like the drop of a hat these days, never pay too much for clothes. Investments in bags, shoes, and acessories are generally your better bet because they are classics and won’t go out of style too quickly.

I hope you liked this first mini blog post in my Back to Campus Series. Don’t forget to subscribe so that you don’t miss any posts!

Summer Date Night Looks

July 20, 2019

Imagine this: it’s a gorgeous July night and you think you have nothing to wear to go out on a date. You’re rummaging through your closet thinking that nothing works and no outfits are cute enough. Does that sound like you? Because it’s literally me every time I go out on a date or out to dinner with friends. Like I always say, the summer is the perfect time to try out new outfit trends and these are some of my favorite outfits for a date night look.

This maxi skirt is from WildFable by Target and so is the crop top I paired it with. These types of skirts are so in right now and really give off a romantic vibe. I paired this look with a platform sneaker so that it’s still pretty casual but it looks like you tried.

I love a good denim skirt for a date night. Denim helps to make outfits a little more casual but the skirt adds just the right amount of girly that you might be looking for on a date. I will admit, tube tops are so obnoxious but I think that they go so well with skirts and are great because you don’t have to wear a bra. To accessorize this look, I added my Gucci belt but you can add any cute belt to pull this look together.

Whoever told you not to wear denim shorts on a date was lying. I absolutely love the cut of these shorts from TopShop. They really help to make my legs look leaner and give off a little more edgy vibe with how they are distressed. I literally love bodysuits for dates because they ALWAYS help to show off your great figure regardless of your shape. This body suit is from J Crew last year but really has a feminine vibe with the off the shoulder ruffles.

These date night looks are sure to win over the heart of your cute date. I am obsessed with these summer trends and I hope that you are too. Summer date nights might seem super intimidating but by just taking a deeper look into your closet, you’ll find exactly what you need to create the perfect look.
