My October Favorites

October 30, 2019

I cannot believe that October is practically over as I write this. October was such a fun first month with Sky but was also a month where I found a lot of my new favorite things! I’ve put together my list of October favorites that you totally need to try in November!

Clinque Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam

october favorites

If you read my skincare routine, then you know that I am obsessed with my Clinique face wash. I recently stumbled across this new version with foam and I fell in love. I feel like it does such a better job of cleaning my face. I love to use this with my face brush and I swear that my face is so smooth every time.

Yogi Detox Tea

october favorites

I’ve recently been more into having tea before bed because it is getting so cold. I love this detox tea because I feel like it helps me digest all the food I’ve eaten during the day and I often wake up not bloated. I know some detox teas do a number on your stomach, but this one doesn’t seem to do anything crazy to me except make me less bloated.

Wild Fable Puffer Jacket

october favorites

Okay, I know that I just uploaded my favorite fall jackets post, but I didn’t have this amazing one yet. Target seriously does it again with this one. This jacket was only $30 and is so trendy and cute. It’s the perfect mix between comfy puffer and boxy cute jacket. For the price, run don’t walk to Target for this one!!

Good and Gather Snacks

october favorites

I am obsessed with Target’s new healthy line of food. Good and Gather from Target is all organic and is seriously so yummy. The apple cinnamon bars remind me of a fig newton but like with apple pie filling. I also think these Lemon Bars are so yummy and might be even better than Rx bars. These bars were definitely cheaper and their whole line is worth checking out.

Purple Halloween Lights

october favorites

These lights added a fun glow to my room for all of those October nights watching a Halloween movie. I actually think I might leave them up at least until before Christmas because I love these. I wanted to include them here because they might go on sale after Halloween!

Selena Gomez’s New Music

This is a more recent favorite but I am absolutely obsessed with Selena’s new songs. I’ve been listening to them non-stop. Younger me is living for the Bieber Gomez drama and the fact that she dropped some awesome songs about it just makes it even better. Follow me here on Apple Music!

Thanks for reading my October favorites. October was such a fun month and I am literally obsessed with all of these awesome products that I have tried. Let me know in the comments below what your October favorites were or if you’ve tried any of mine!

Why I Made the Switch to Clean Products

September 18, 2019

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile now you know that I am insanely passionate about clean products in my home. From cleaning supplies to beauty products, I like to make sure that what I’m using is healthy, natural, and not filled with harsh chemicals.

I know for a lot of people the cost of clean products is definitely a factor when deciding what to purchase but knowing that I’m not using random chemicals around my little cousins or putting things on my face with ingredients that I don’t know how to pronounce is so important. I recently have come across some really affordable brands that I absolutely love and thought I would share them with you guys!

Love Home and Planet

As with any Target trip, I ended up purchasing a lot of the Love Home and Planet products on a whim but was pleasantly surprised with how well the work. I initially only have know this brand for their shampoo and conditioner line which is amazing but they also make detergents, cleaning sprays, cleaning wipes and hand soaps that are vegan, not tested on animals and have minimal, clean ingredients. I seriously have become so obsessed with these products and this entire company. They’re also carbon conscious and I just like that the ingredients they use are natural.

Method

I’ve been using Method body wash for years now but I never realized that they also make cleaning products. Similar to Love Home and Planet, they also have clean and non toxic products. I really love them for their body washes because they have all natural ingredients and minimal ingredients which is so important when you’re trying to clean and keep your skin healthy.

Aside from these awesome, all natural products, I also have come across this cool app that you can test how clean and healthy your products are. The app is called Think Dirty and basically you can scan whatever you’re using to see it’s rating. It gives you the ingredients that’s in the product and breaks down what’s good and bad about the product so that you can make your own informed decision about it.

I think that’s really the key to using healthy products. Everyone wants different things in for their lives and some people are just super passionate about what goes on, near, or around their bodies. Other people might not be as interested but at the end of the day you just need to do what’s best for you and your lifestyle. I definitely hope that you will try the products and brands that I’ve talked about here because I think you’ll love them just as much as I do!

My Secret to Staying Organized

July 3, 2019

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am insanely organized. Organization helps to keep me on track and not stress out so I definitely know the trick to staying on top of what you need to do. My secret isn’t even that revolutionary but the type is.

I know for sure that growing up we have all had a love hate relationship with planners. I went through a phase where a piece of paper was all I needed because I couldn’t get myself to use those little academic planners the schools would hand out. Once I stumbled across the brand “Day Designer” my life was forever changed and my level of organization instantly skyrocketed.

Day Designer agendas are not your typical planners. They have all the same components but so much more that it actually makes it so simple to plan out your day and accomplish things on your to do list. I love to sit on a Sunday night and plan out each day’s to do list in the section for that day. To do lists keep us accountable for what we need to accomplish and it feels so good when you cross something off them.

Not only is the to do list section on each page so helpful, but the fact that it breaks the day down into each hour really helps you start to learn about your time management skills and see where your time is going. I love spending time writing in my day and then following it. It not only helps you stay on track but all of your information is in one spot as opposed to on like 3 apps on your phone and then a sticky note somewhere in your car. Between the days being on their own pages, a big section for a to do list, and the days broken down by hour, I will never go back to a regular planner.

I also found that Day Designer has all different sizes for different needs. I originally had their mini version but found that I needed something more in depth for each day. I have also found that Target has the a line of Day Designer planners that tend to be a little cheaper then on the actual website so don’t freak out that these agendas can’t fit your budget.

Now, I know not everyone has the time to plan out their day to day schedule but you will thank me if you at least give it a shot for this back to school year. My number one tip that I give out when people ask how I stay so organized is my planner and that I specifically use one by Day Designer. Being organized is a serious life skill that we aren’t really taught in school so once we head out to college and the real world, if you don’t have any sense of time management it will get so stressful so fast. Believe me, I was there until I found my holy grail organization product.

Comfy Summer Outfit Ideas

May 22, 2019

I always find that it is easier for me to create outfits in the fall and winter as opposed to summer because of layering. I am huge on using multiple layers to create a look but in the summer that style trend really doesn’t work, unless you want to be super hot all the time.

For me summer is all about comfort. With being a student and a dance teacher, my summer consists of a much less hectic schedule which means less time running around and more time at home relaxing. Because of that, my summer outfits usually reflect my relaxed mood, meaning I like to be super minimal but still look put together if I’m out with friends or just running errands. Here are some of my all time favorite summer outfit ideas!

  1. The Sundress
  • Forever 21 $8.99
  • Forever 21 $24.90

Sundresses to me scream summer. They are so effortless because all you really need to do is put one on with some cute sandals and you’re good to go. Sundresses are so versatile that they’re perfect for dinner with friends or just to run out for a quick coffee from Starbucks. I love the fact that you can either go basic like this military green one from Forever 21 or have some fun with a pattern like this floral one also from Forever 21. I like to style my sundresses with a cute pair of sandals and maybe a dainty gold necklace. They are always so easy to style and if you’re pressed for time, a great go to.

2. Jeans and a Crop Top

  • Jeans: Nasty Gal $50
    Top: Target $5
    Sneakers: Nike $110
  • Jeans: Nasty Gal $50
    Top: Target $5
    Sneakers: Nike $110

This is probably my favorite outfit to put on when I’m going out in the summer at night. Pairing simple blue jeans with any crop top that you have give that model off duty vibe that is really in these days. For me, I like to make sure my crop tops are long enough because sometimes they’re cut way to short and just are not that cute. In this picture, I took my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans from Nasty Gal and paired it with a simple white tube top from Wild Fable by Target. (PS. Target has awesome tube tops for super cheap) To finish the look, I paired it with my Air Force 1s that have stars on them. This helped to give the look a little bit more of a fun aspect but still made it so easy to create.

3. Shorts and a Top

  • Top: Urban Outfitters $24
    Shorts: Target $15
    Sneakers: Nike $110
  • Top: Urban Outfitters $24
    Shorts: Target $15
    Sneakers: Nike $110

This classic summer look is always a go to for comfort and style. The hard part of creating this outfit is finding a pair of denim shorts that you love and are comfortable in. I actually boycotted denim shorts for a few years until I found this pair because I could not find a pair that I actually loved. This pair of denim is from Target and was super inexpensive as well. I paired it with this fun yellow top from Urban Outfitters and again used my white Air Force 1s. Pairing shorts and any shirt together is so simple but I think accessorizing is the key part here to bringing the outfit together. A cute pair of sunglasses or even rings could really dress up this casual outfit and make it easier to transition from day to night.

Some colors that I think are going to be trending this summer are neons and pastels. If you go into any store right now, most of the colors are neon oranges and yellows or pastel pinks, purples, and blues. All of these colors would pair nicely with denim or even look super cute as a sundress. The chunky sneaker trend will also be still around this summer so if you’re not totally in to Air Force 1s or the Balenciaga Triple S sneakers, there are so many dupes for much cheaper prices. This pair from Target is a great dupe for Yeezys and really fits the chunky sneaker trend.

My biggest take away is that summer is the perfect time to still stay comfortable but maybe try and go out of your comfort zone. I love using the summer as a time to try out trends that wouldn’t have worked in my everyday outfits during the school year. I also love summer to stick to my basics and just dress more comfortably no matter what I am doing.

Happy Summer!
