My Summer Playlist for 2020

August 3, 2020

As we enter August, I thought I would share some of my favorite songs for my Summer 2020 playlist. I love listening to music at the beach or on a morning walk, so these are the songs that I am playing on repeat this summer. My playlist from last year was such a hit, that I thought it would be cool to look back each year on the songs from that summer. Feel free to download this list follow me on Apple Music here to listen to the playlist!!

Getting Back into A Routine After Vacation

August 21, 2019

Vacations always are so much fun but can mess with your daily routines. From eating unhealthy to going to bed whenever, getting back on track can sometimes be so difficult so I put together some of my favorite ways to reset after vacation and get back into your daily routine.

  1. Drink Water!!

I swear that I don’t drink enough water when I’m on vacation. The first thing that I do when I get home is fill up my hydro flask and get back into the routine of drinking so much water. Not only will it help with getting rid of all the food you ate during the vacay it’ll also help to get you back on track with eating healthy.

2. Restock your Fridge

I like to make a rule that after a vacation I’m only going to buy fresh produce and proteins. By setting a limit for myself on what I can and can’t buy, it makes it easier to not be tempted into having all the yummy foods I just ate during vacation. A big one for me is ice cream so I like to make sure it’s completely out of my house before I get back so I’m not even tempted, since it’s my favorite thing to get on vacation.

3. Slowly start to Workout

I can’t tell you how many times I force myself into the gym the day after I come home. Not only do I fell gross but I’m seriously just not into because I’m still in vacation mode. I find that by not going so hard right away, it makes it easier for me to get back into my normal workout routine.

4. Unpack right Away

GUYS!! This might be the most important thing you read: don’t leave your dirty laundry and unpacked suitcase just lying around. I know how insanely hard it is to unpack your bags after a great vacation but you just have to do it and not put it off.

5. Plan before you go

I love making a list of things that I want/need to do after I come back from vacation. This helps me keep myself accountable and stay on track with getting back into a routine. I always like to make sure my house is picked up and clean before I leave for vacation so that when I get back it’s just one less thing I need to worry about.

I am constantly traveling whether it’s family vacations or trips for work so I pretty much have it down to a science. Coming home from amazing trips is literally so difficult but you have to push through and get back on your routine. I promise you won’t regret this tips!

Summer Street Style Ideas

July 7, 2019

If you’re like me, then you’ve reached the point in the summer that jean shorts and a crop top just aren’t it anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I love the comfort of them but I feel like they get old so quick in the summer. One trend that I am usually pretty hesitant to try is street style. If you know me, you know I’m a pastel, floral loving girl so the dark colors and structured apparel of street style is not something I usually try. I do however realize that it’s always good to try something new and being in a wardrobe rut this summer, I decided to style some pieces that would be perfect for a walk down 5th Ave this summer.

Cargo Pants

I was super hesitant to even try these pants on in the store. I just wasn’t sure how they would fit on my pretty curvy body but I ended up loving the structure to them. They’re cut like a jogger but they give such a cool vibe to them with the mesh cut outs in the knees. I decided to pair them with a bright neon green tube top and a white sneaker. This look screams street style and I seriously love this color combo. I think it’s perfect for summer.

Bike Shorts

The second I put these biker shorts on, I felt like Kim K. I mean, they are seriously comfortable but just not something that I usually gravitate towards. I found them to be so comfortable and really no different then leggings. I would even argue that these pants are even more comfortable then leggings for the summer because they’ll help to keep you cool. The night that I wore these was a little chilly so I put on this neon pink sweatshirt. I seriously love this combo of the tight shorts with a bigger hoody. Again, I paired it with my go to white sneakers and I thought this look was perfect. I also tried this look with just the same neon tube top from the cargo pants, and it looked great with that as well.

Black Skinny Jeans

I feel like so many people stay as far away from the color black in the summer as possible but I love it. I love my black skinny jeans and think they add such a cool vibe to any look. I paired these Top Shop Moto jeans with this super cute band tee from American Eagle. I love this outfit because it’s so comfy but looks so cool. This look is perfect for a night out for dinner or even just a day of shopping.

Iridescent

I tend to think iridescent clothes are definitely not for me but this tube top from Target is so fun. I paired it with my black Top Shop skirt and absolutely love this look. I think iridescent looks are perfect for summer because they’ll really play with the light from the sun. I do caution that not everything iridescent is cute and should be worn. While I was in search of something that was this cute, I came across a lot of festival pieces that wouldn’t really make sense in everyday life. This top is just enough fun that it’ll light up your night but not make you stand out like a sore thumb.

I really hope you enjoyed these looks! This post really forced me to get out of my style comfort zone and try something new. I actually have since purchased a few more pairs of biker shorts because I just love them so much. Let me know down below what your favorite look was and check out my IGTV for the outfit video!

4 Ways to Heal Your Sunburn Fast

June 18, 2019

I get asked all the time how I get so tan over the summer. I used to lay out in the sun with only tanning oil on but once I became more aware of the harmful effects of sun damage to your skin, I quickly made skin care my top priority. This post is dedicated to healing that painful sunburn that we all get a least once a summer.

  1. Quality Sun Tan Lotion
$8.99

Let me tell you, this may seem like the most obvious tip but a lot of people don’t take the quality of their sunscreen into consideration. Quality suntan lotion is generally a little more pricy then the cheap stuff but it is so worth the cost. For example, this Hawaiian Tropic’s sunscreen has built in moisturizers so that even if your skin starts to burn, it has moisturizer on it to start working fast to reduce the burn. I also love Sun Bum’s products as well. It’s important that you’re getting quality suntan lotions so that you can prevent the burns before they happen and prevent long term skin damage.

2. Don’t Exfoliate or Peel Your Skin

It might be extremely tempting to sit and peel off that dead skin or use an exfoliating scrub in the shower but DON’T DO IT!! Stripping off that dead skin prior to it naturally coming off will leave your skin extremely damaged and stripped of the moisture that it needs to recover. That dead skin is helping retain the moisture that your skin will need to heal. You can purchase Sun Balm’s to apply to the peeling skin that can help speed up the process of your the dead skin coming off if you don’t like the way it looks.

3. Moisturize Immediately

$6.79

I swear by this tip to keep my skin tan and not getting burnt. Even if I’m red after being out in the sun, whenever I get out of it I make sure to use an “after sun” moisturizer that is designed to help replenish what my skin lost from being out all day. Moisturizing is your best friend in the summer and so many people neglect this step. I really believe that moisturizing after I get out of the sun and using a sun lotion infused with moisturizer, I get the best tans that are long lasting.

4. Solarcaine

$6.31

I was so surprised when people have never heard of this product. Solar Cane is basically used like aloe except its in a spray bottle and is cooling when applied. I don’t like to use aloe because it’s too sticky for me and also rubbing damaged skin isn’t the best idea. This product does the job of aloe except works so much better for some reason. I’ve seen people who get the worst sunburns put this on right after being in the sun and they’re not even pink. I highly recommend getting this and adding it to your after sun routine. It also will help take away the pain and burning sensation that sunburn leaves.

I also just want to put out a disclaimer that being out in the sun all day is not good for you. I love laying out and getting tan but as I get older, I realize more and more how harmful sun rays can be to your skin. A once in awhile sunburn is not the end of the world but please be cautious this summer because sun damage is irreversible.

Swimsuit Guide

June 3, 2019

Happy June and happy almost summer! A major staple in my summer wardrobe are my bathing suits. Because I live on a lake and frequently go to the beach, I constantly live in my bathing suit and think I have found some great swimsuits at great prices. I will admit that I am a full bikini girl. I love two piece swimwear so all of the following suits will be bikinis. Here are a few places I love to shop for swim.

  1. Amazon
Black: $14.99
Red: $14.99

Buyers be warned, Amazon’s suits are GREAT prices but not the best quality. If you’re like me and just lay out at home, I love a good Amazon bikini. They’re perfect and cheap for just at home tanning and if you ruin them, there’s really not too much to be upset about because they’re so cheap. I will admit though, that the sizing is pretty wacky so if you have Prime, I would order a few sizes to see what fits you best! Try Amazon Prime for 30 days FREE!

2. PacSun

Pacsun
Top: SOLD OUT
Bottoms: $13.77

I am not a PacSun shopper, but in the summer months I find myself going in and finding the cutest swimwear. I feel like they’re always perfectly on trend with the swimsuit’s cut and the color. They are a little pricey but so far, I have not had any issues with the quality of their suits. Also, they usually have a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale which helps reduce the cost. I think that PacSun is great to buy like 1 or 2 really nice swimsuits to add to your collection.

3. Forever 21

Top: $7.50
Bottom: $7.50

Similar to Amazon, these swimsuits are so cheap! I recently purchased a full set for $15. I thought the styles of all of these suits was so cute but I could tell that they were not the best material. I really like to make sure that I have a good variety of swimwear so Forever 21 makes it easy to add to my collection but I would not create your entire collection here. Like I said, the prices are great but the quality isn’t the best.

Some other places that I often will look or buy bathings at would be like Target, Victoria’s Secret, and sometimes Hollister. I usually will buy like tops or bottoms at these places and not usually a full set. These stores also have some great suits for great prices and have a mix of good and bad quality swimsuits. I think the key to shopping for swimsuits is to make sure you’re comfortable. The quality of the suit could be bad but as long as you’re comfortable in it, there’s no need to worry about the material, unless its see through. I hope this mini swimsuit guide helped you in your summer shopping adventures. Let me know some of your favorite places to shop for swim!
