My Pet Travel Essential Must Haves!

July 18, 2022

Traveling with your pet can be so much fun! As long as you have a clear game plan and items to help make your life easier, it can truly be a breeze. I wanted to share my pet travel essential items with you so can bring your pup wherever you go!

My biggest tip for traveling with your pet is plan it out right. We like to leave either first thing in the morning after she has breakfast and pottys or at night after dinner. It just helps to eliminate potty trips and we know she’ll be ready to sleep.

Pet Carrier- Click Here

pet travel essential

I think this one depends on where you’re going but I love this carrier from wild one. It is perfect to pop sky in and just go. Wild One also has an airplane carrier too at I would be interested in testing out because it’s TSA approved. Carriers are just great when you don’t necessarily want your pet on a leash and need to comfortably carry them.

Stroller Fan- Click Here

This is absolutely a stroller fan for babies but is so perfect for your pet. I like it in the back seat with Sky when traveling just to ensure the air is reaching her and keeping her cool. I like that this is portable so it can come on walks, in the car, or just use it in the house on really hot summer days.

Car Seat- Click Here

I have shared my Pup Saver car seat so many times but we’ve found on a longer drive, this kind of carseat is way comfier for her. It is similar to her bed so she can just curl up and sleep. Car seats are essential in keeping your bet save and I love this one to keep her comfy.

Calming Treats- Click Here

We’re not big on calming supplements for Sky but these treats are great. Not only do they smell great but they have some ingredients that help promote relaxation. She usually is fine in the car but I like to have something like this on hand just to be sure we’re covered if she gets a little anxious.

Travel Water Bottle- Click Here

This water bottle is definitely the most important travel essential. I love that the water goes back in the bottle so that it can save the rest. This is great just to have on a daily basis and it’s super inexpensive.

As you can see, these pet travel essential products are wide ranging. Sometimes it can be really overwhelming if you are unprepared. I hope these travel products help you and your pet have the best trip ever!

My Top Date Ideas in NYC

February 14, 2022

In honor of this being posted on Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share some of my top date ideas in NYC! Whether you live in the city or are planning a trip, these places and restaurants are must stops in the city.

For me, the city is only about a 45 minute train ride or drive away so I find myself in the city quite a bit. I’ve curated this list over the past few years. I wanted to make sure I hit the major categories like food, entertainment, and of course shopping!

Dinner & Drinks

Italian in Little Italy

Not sure about you but there’s nothing more romantic to me in the city than Little Italy. It has this adorable charm to it and some really great restaurants to just pop into for dinner. One of my favorites is Capri but I honestly just like to walk around a pop into whatever looks good. It’s always fun to discover something new and it kind of makes that place special for the both of you!

LadyBird Vegan Tapas

I have yet to actually go to LadyBird yet but I have heard nothing but great things. It’s a vegan apps and drinks kind of restaurant and the inside is decorated beautifully. If you’re looking for a quicker bite to eat and are in the area I think this is a great option!

What to Do

A Trip to the Met

This is one of my favorite things to do in the city. The Met is seriously a beautiful museum and honestly, it could take a you a few times to check everything out. I love finishing up at the Met and then walking through Central Park. This combo is literally perfect and honestly a great activity that’s not too expensive but gives you plenty to talk about.

A Walk Around South Street Seaport

date ideas in nyc

If you’re looking for a less city atmosphere but great views, South Street by the boats is for you. I love this area because of the water and the peacefulness it has. Crazy that you can find this pocket of peace in the craziness of the city. This area also has some shops and restaurants so there’s more to do than just look at the water.

Where to Shop

The Shops at Hudson Yards

date ideas in nyc

Not only is the building across the street sick but you get the mall vibe in the city. If you want to go shopping but not have to pop around streets this is great. I like this for a date idea because this area has a lot to do so you can stay in one place, eat and shop at once.

Soho

date ideas in nyc

This is more of a general are to shop in. Of course you can head up and down Fifth Ave but I feel like for a date you’re looking more for a vibe and experience. Fifth tends to be a bit busy and I like the Soho quaintness.

I hope this top date ideas in NYC post gives you some tips on planning your next trip. I had a lot of fun putting this post together so let me know if you want more like this! I’m hoping to travel this spring and summer so I’d love to put more of these together if you liked it.

Getting Back into A Routine After Vacation

August 21, 2019

Vacations always are so much fun but can mess with your daily routines. From eating unhealthy to going to bed whenever, getting back on track can sometimes be so difficult so I put together some of my favorite ways to reset after vacation and get back into your daily routine.

  1. Drink Water!!

I swear that I don’t drink enough water when I’m on vacation. The first thing that I do when I get home is fill up my hydro flask and get back into the routine of drinking so much water. Not only will it help with getting rid of all the food you ate during the vacay it’ll also help to get you back on track with eating healthy.

2. Restock your Fridge

I like to make a rule that after a vacation I’m only going to buy fresh produce and proteins. By setting a limit for myself on what I can and can’t buy, it makes it easier to not be tempted into having all the yummy foods I just ate during vacation. A big one for me is ice cream so I like to make sure it’s completely out of my house before I get back so I’m not even tempted, since it’s my favorite thing to get on vacation.

3. Slowly start to Workout

I can’t tell you how many times I force myself into the gym the day after I come home. Not only do I fell gross but I’m seriously just not into because I’m still in vacation mode. I find that by not going so hard right away, it makes it easier for me to get back into my normal workout routine.

4. Unpack right Away

GUYS!! This might be the most important thing you read: don’t leave your dirty laundry and unpacked suitcase just lying around. I know how insanely hard it is to unpack your bags after a great vacation but you just have to do it and not put it off.

5. Plan before you go

I love making a list of things that I want/need to do after I come back from vacation. This helps me keep myself accountable and stay on track with getting back into a routine. I always like to make sure my house is picked up and clean before I leave for vacation so that when I get back it’s just one less thing I need to worry about.

I am constantly traveling whether it’s family vacations or trips for work so I pretty much have it down to a science. Coming home from amazing trips is literally so difficult but you have to push through and get back on your routine. I promise you won’t regret this tips!

My Travel Essentials

June 24, 2019

Whether you’re traveling internationally or just taking a road trip to a local destination, what you’re packing is pretty much the same. My summers are always packed with vacations so I like to think of myself as a travel guru. I posted an Over Packers Guide to Packing before my Pennsylvania trip in May so definitely check that out if you’re like me and feel like you need your whole closet for a weekend trip. Here’s my list of travel essentials that I can’t live without while on vacay.

  1. Headphones

Traveling with headphones just makes travel so much better. Whether you’re trying to block out noise on a flight or listening to your favorite podcast on the beach, headphones make everything better.

2. Your Own Skin/Hair Care Products

You would be surprised at how many people I meet who say that they use hotel soap, shampoo, & conditioner. Of course there’s nothing wrong with them but being consistent with your products from home is key to getting the best results and looking your best while on vacation. So many brands have come out with travel size of their products or you can buy containers like these that you can put your products into.

3. A Jacket

Regardless of if you’re going on a tropical vacation or not, you should definitely bring a jacket with you. I know it might sound silly but often times places will get super cold at night or a restaurants AC will be unbearable. A simple jacket is a must have for comfort and will usually make any outfit super cute.

4. Rain Gear

I can’t tell you how many trips I’ve been on that I’ve left my rain jacket at home and it just rains for days. Being wet from the rain is the worst feeling and even if your rain jacket or umbrella takes up some space in your suitcase, you’d rather be safe and dry then wet and sorry on your vacation.

5. Laundry Bag

I might sound crazy but it is so annoying to have your dirty clothes with your nice clean clothes in your suitcase. Not to mention, it already makes the dreaded laundry day post vacation so much more difficult because you have to stand their and sort through what’s clean or not. I like to use a either half of my suitcase for dirty clothes or some sort of bag that can fit in my suitcase with the dirty clothes.

6. Chargers

Make a sticky note or put a reminder on your phone but don’t forget to bring the chargers for your electronics!! I hate when I’ve left a phone charger at home and then have to go out a purchase a brand new one knowing I have a perfectly good one at home.

7. Bring Sneakers

Even if you don’t plan on taking a hike on your vacation, I always like to bring at least one pair of good, comfortable sneakers to wear. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten blisters on my feet from the only cute sandals I packed with me on vacation. At least if you bring a pair of sneakers, you’ll be able to give your feet some relief.

These are just a few of my travel essentials. I love making sure that bring the comfort of home with me while I’m on vacation. I know how hard it is to want to make sure you don’t forget anything while worrying about being over packed. Let me know in the comments below if you have any travel essentials you can’t live without!

4 Ways to Heal Your Sunburn Fast

June 18, 2019

I get asked all the time how I get so tan over the summer. I used to lay out in the sun with only tanning oil on but once I became more aware of the harmful effects of sun damage to your skin, I quickly made skin care my top priority. This post is dedicated to healing that painful sunburn that we all get a least once a summer.

  1. Quality Sun Tan Lotion
$8.99

Let me tell you, this may seem like the most obvious tip but a lot of people don’t take the quality of their sunscreen into consideration. Quality suntan lotion is generally a little more pricy then the cheap stuff but it is so worth the cost. For example, this Hawaiian Tropic’s sunscreen has built in moisturizers so that even if your skin starts to burn, it has moisturizer on it to start working fast to reduce the burn. I also love Sun Bum’s products as well. It’s important that you’re getting quality suntan lotions so that you can prevent the burns before they happen and prevent long term skin damage.

2. Don’t Exfoliate or Peel Your Skin

It might be extremely tempting to sit and peel off that dead skin or use an exfoliating scrub in the shower but DON’T DO IT!! Stripping off that dead skin prior to it naturally coming off will leave your skin extremely damaged and stripped of the moisture that it needs to recover. That dead skin is helping retain the moisture that your skin will need to heal. You can purchase Sun Balm’s to apply to the peeling skin that can help speed up the process of your the dead skin coming off if you don’t like the way it looks.

3. Moisturize Immediately

$6.79

I swear by this tip to keep my skin tan and not getting burnt. Even if I’m red after being out in the sun, whenever I get out of it I make sure to use an “after sun” moisturizer that is designed to help replenish what my skin lost from being out all day. Moisturizing is your best friend in the summer and so many people neglect this step. I really believe that moisturizing after I get out of the sun and using a sun lotion infused with moisturizer, I get the best tans that are long lasting.

4. Solarcaine

$6.31

I was so surprised when people have never heard of this product. Solar Cane is basically used like aloe except its in a spray bottle and is cooling when applied. I don’t like to use aloe because it’s too sticky for me and also rubbing damaged skin isn’t the best idea. This product does the job of aloe except works so much better for some reason. I’ve seen people who get the worst sunburns put this on right after being in the sun and they’re not even pink. I highly recommend getting this and adding it to your after sun routine. It also will help take away the pain and burning sensation that sunburn leaves.

I also just want to put out a disclaimer that being out in the sun all day is not good for you. I love laying out and getting tan but as I get older, I realize more and more how harmful sun rays can be to your skin. A once in awhile sunburn is not the end of the world but please be cautious this summer because sun damage is irreversible.
