Revlon Hair Dryer Brush vs Dyson Air Wrap!

May 9, 2022

In my last post about the Dyson, I mentioned that I also had a Revlon Hair Dryer too. I originally purchased this before I was gifted the Dyson so the Revlon and I have some history. I thought it would be super beneficial for you to get an in depth comparison of both.

I feel like when I hear about the Revlon and Dyson dryers, people only talk about the price. I feel like that is only a little part of the comparison between the two. Keep reading if you’re in the market for a new blow dry brush or want to see if the Dyson is actually worth it.

Revlon One Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer- Shop Here

revlon hair dryer

This blow dry brush averages around $60 and is basically a brush that blows out warm air. I love the design of this one because it is so thick and easy to hold. I also like the shape of the brush part because its flat with rounded edges.

This helps to create a really bouncy and curved blow out look that I feel like is really in. However, the blowout look is really the only thing that this gives you. There are no other attachments so you really only can get a blowout every time.

I do like how the blowout comes out and that I can dry and style my damp hair right out of the shower. Similar to the Dyson, you do need your hair mostly dry to avoid damage. My biggest con with this is I can just feel how hot it gets and know it’s not good for my hair. I try not to use this often but it’s so great on nights I take a shower and want my hair styled for the next day.

Dyson Air Wrap- Shop Here

revlon hair dryer vs dyson

This set averages $549.99 and comes with a base and multiple attachments. The Dyson is great because you can blow out, straighten, and curl your hair all with this one device. One slight issue I have with this product is that it’s hard to travel with. I love all the attachments so it just makes everything bulky to bring with it.

Styling wise, the possibilities are seriously endless. I love the brush heads to give me a sleeker blown out look. I actually don’t use the curl barrels that much because no matter what I do the curl just doesn’t stay. I can say that I don’t feel like my hair is being damaged like I do with the Revlon. That doesn’t mean it’s not damaging but I think the Dyson is a bit better on the hair.

Honestly my two big cons are that I wish it had an attachment like the Revlon’s brush. I really like the bouncy and flipped in ends look. I haven’t quite gotten that with the Dyson because the brush it has isn’t that big. I also think the price is super steep for something that you probably don’t need.

Revlon vs Dyson

If you want my honest opinion, you really don’t need the Dyson. It’s a cool tool with crazy technology that helps to minimize heat damage. However, it’s super expensive and honestly, the Revlon does just as a good a job. I feel like the people who are in the market for a drying brush just want a blown out look which the Revlon gives you. The choice is entirely yours, but had I not gotten the Dyson as a gift, I’m not sure I would have purchased it myself.

I hope this revlon hair dryer brush vs Dyson review was helpful! I wish I had something like this to help with my decision. It’s crazy that the Dyson is so expensive that you really have to weigh all the pros and cons of it.

My Sunday Reset for a Good Week

April 25, 2022

If you know me, you know I love a good Sunday Reset. Sundays are the only day that I actually don’t have to go anywhere so I take full advantage of that. I like to spend my Sundays setting myself up for a good week.

Life can get super crazy during the week so I generally leave a lot of things for Sundays to do. I’ve been loving reading posts like these to see what Sundays look like for everyone else so I figured I’d share my typical Sunday routine!

7:30 am

Sky is always up around this time no matter the day so we’re usually up and feeding her at this time. After she’s all set for the morning, I grab my ice roller and we head back to bed!

10:00am

By 10 we’re usually ready to be up for the day and will either grab bagels or make a yummy breakfast at home. I rarely have breakfast in the morning but on Sunday it’s so nice to spend the time making something like pancakes that I wouldn’t normally eat!

11:00-1:00pm

Depending on how productive I was on Saturday, I may or may not have to grocery shop on Sunday. We usually will need fresh salmon so we will make a quick trip out for coffees and whatever we need. I love actually taking the time to go for a morning ride on a Sunday because it’s leisurely and something Sky enjoys.

I always will take a few minutes to refresh the house though. I love changing my sheets, dusting, using the Roomba and mopping. This little refresh helps to keep cleaning simple and not overwhelming. During the week, I cannot be bother to do this so carving out time on a Sunday to do this is essential to keeping me sane during the week.

1:00-4:00pm

After that, I always make sure I spend time doing whatever I want. Whether it’s a nap, reading, or doing some yoga/pilates, I like having time for it. Sundays are only relaxing if I can be productive but also make time for myself to rest and recharge. We generally do laundry throughout the week so this time on a Sunday can really be relaxing.

5:00-7:00pm

I am all about an early dinner on a Sunday. I love eating early, cleaning the kitchen, and then taking a good shower. Sundays are my favorite days for a yummy meal but that has easy clean up. You can check out my favorite soup recipe here that’s always a go to on a Sunday for me.

My Sunday showers are also a ritual. I love washing my hair on Sunday to set myself up for a good week. I’ll lotion and also lymphatic drain as well since I actually have the time to spend doing that. I finish off my day with comfy pjs and a glazed donut skin on my face.

7:00pm

Once I’m all set, I’ll hop into bed and we’ll usually watch a show or movie that we’ve been putting off. I love being in bed early on a Sunday because it seriously sets you up for a good week. I’ll read and then finish off the night with essential oils and a quick mediation before bed around 9pm.

Everything I just listed is my ideal Sunday reset. Obviously not every Sunday will be this dreamy but I do try to make a few of these things a priority no matter what I’m up to that day. Also, your Sunday reset might be totally different and that’s okay too.

I’m all about setting yourself up for a successful week and you might have to do different things to do that. Let me know your favorite things to do on a Sunday in the comments below and subscribe here to the blog!

Finding a French Bulldog Breeder

April 18, 2022

The top asked question in my dms when I post Sky is who was her breeder. The next question is how did you find a french bulldog breeder you trusted. I won’t sugar coat, it took me over 6 months of research on not only breeders but the breed itself to find someone I trusted.

French Bulldogs are a unique breed and can have a lot of health issues if they are bred incorrectly. You are spending so much money already on your puppy. It’s crucial to make sure you can avoid major genetic issues as well as some physical ones as well.

I’m going to share with you my thought process in picking a breeder but not the breeder itself. Unfortunately they are no longer breeding but I also think you need to find a breeder on your own. Recommendations are great but honestly there’s a lot at stake when choosing your French Bulldog breeder.

Facial Features

This is probably my top tip and something I didn’t realize until after I got her. Frenchie’s can have major breathing problems due to their smooshed faces but so far we haven’t seen that with Sky. Her nose is actually much further out on her face and I think that’s why.

I’ve noticed the dogs how have the super smooshed faces seem to be the snorters and the ones that breath super heavy. Sky has minimal breathing like that but seriously not that bad. When going to pick out your Frenchie, I would look for breeders who have dogs with longer snouts because that just means more air and room for air for your pet.

Health Info

This one is pretty obvious but you need to have a breeder who’s willing to give you info on the health of all of their dogs. Not just the parents of your puppy but also the other dogs in their care. I was able to actually meet her parents and look at them as well as get their health info written out.

They didn’t have anything that would’ve been a warning sign or indicator of hereditary health issues that they could give to Sky. I wanted to also meet some of their other dogs because it gives you an idea of how well they take care of their pets and if they have any health issues.

Vibe of the Breeder

I can’t tell you how many breeders I talked to that were way too pushy. If I’m reaching out about a dog, clearly I want one but not just the first dog you have. I also was turned off by breeders who had insanely strict contracts for vaccines and spaying/neutering.

When I take home my puppy, I want to be able to make decisions for it that I have researched and feel is best, not anyone else. I get why breeders have contracts to preserve their line of dogs but I wanted a breeder who would guide me, not decide for me. Sky’s breeders were super laid back and answered any questions I had in the early months of having her.

Social Media Tags

This is one that I think a lot of people don’t think to do. My breeder had an instagram account and I found it super helpful to go to their tagged pictures and see how their dogs were doing now. This gives you an better idea of their health problems that maybe a breeder wouldn’t want to tell you.

Through social media, I was also connected with some of Sky’s siblings to talk about the dogs and how they’re doing. This was just so helpful to see happy and healthy older dogs because it gives you an idea of what you’re getting.

What does your puppy come with

After talking to a bunch of breeders, it’s common to have dogs come with other health tests done. I think the more health testing your breeder can offer the better because then you know what you’re getting.

Some dogs also need vaccines so it’s important to make sure your pup comes up to date with those. Some breeders send home other things like collars or toys. I don’t find that as important as getting those health tests that you would want.

Obviously price and color come into play but these 5 things were at the top of my mind. You are trusting this person to give you a healthy dog that’s very expensive. Research is essential and taking the time to choose is necessary.

My top tip is just start emailing your local french bulldog breeder or breeders at a distance you’re comfortable in going to. Honestly, building a relationship with the breeder and getting to know their dogs is my top tip.

Content Creation Tips & Tricks

March 21, 2022

As many of you know, I am a freelance social media manager on top of blogger and dance teacher. I feel like because of this, I know a little more than the average blogger. This helps me utilize these content creation tips to keep me consistent.

A lot of people will say just be a content creator but they don’t realize how much actually goes into it. I didn’t start to see a real amount of money from my blog until about 3 years in after being consistent. This post is all about how and why I follow the content schedule I do and why you need to have one.

Honestly, I would say a content schedule that you can stick to is probably the most important key to growing any brand. A content schedule is not only when you’ll post on social but also when you’ll create that content. You need to have the content to post so it’s crucial that you stay on schedule and have content prepared.

Establishing a Schedule

content creation tips

I’ve found that I am best able to promote and spend time answering comments on a blog post on a Monday morning, which is why all of my blog posts are then at 9am. I decided this year to up my posts so I added two others during the month on Wednesdays. I average about 6 posts a month on the blog which is a lot.

In addition to the posts, I have to post on IG, Pinterest, Tik Tok to promote the post after it’s live which also is why Mondays are best for me. Establishing when you are going to post not only keeps you accountable but people come to expect content from you on those days. This easy transition helps you create a community that knows when to come back for more.

Content Ideas

content creations tips

In addition to a schedule, I like to start a running list of dates throughout the year I’m going to post. This helps me see what content would do best during those months and gives me a spot to write down my ideas.

I honestly just googled Mondays in 2022 and copy/pasted it into a Google Doc. I can access this whenever I get an idea and it helps me always have ideas when maybe I’m in a crunch to post. Visually, this also helps me cross off what I’ve already created for the month to know what I still need to do.

I recently just started this for my other socials which seriously has changed the game for me. I can plan out all of my content for the month and then I just need to write/record/create.

Creation

Once you figure out step one and two, creation really shouldn’t be too hard for you. Obviously you need to create it but if you already have the idea and when it needs to go live, you can just jump in.

I like to create my blog posts at least a month in advance just in case I have something come up one week. This buffer ensures I’ll always have a post go live. Sometimes I will post randomly if it’s time sensitive but for the most part I like to be ahead.

As for socials, I like to post in real time if I can. This means that I’ll create then post right away. I feel like my posts are usually more informal so it’s good for me to just get it out.

Creation Days

I like to set each day a week as a different platform. I’m almost always creating blog posts on Mondays and Tuesdays. I’ve been trying to create Tik Toks on Wednesdays and then I usually take my IG pictures on the weekends.

I like to batch create content so that I only have to get fully ready once in awhile and I can just get whatever I need done. This is probably my biggest tip to stay accountable because by setting a day aside for one platform, you don’t have the ability to not get it done if you have other days that are for other platforms.

I hope this post was informative for you in creating your content schedule and with content creation tips. Honestly, I wish I knew this back in the beginning because it would’ve saved me so much time. I used to create whenever I felt like it, which is of course great but not when you’re having an off week and don’t want to create anything.

Let me know if setting up a content schedule helped you to level up your content or if you liked these content creation tips! To read more social media posts like this click here! Don’t forget to subscribe to my mailing list here so you never miss a post!

24 Things I Manifested Before Turning 24

February 28, 2022

Because this post is going live on February 28th, the night before my 24th birthday, I wanted to reflect on my life so far! I came up with this idea of 24 things I manifested before turning 24 as a way to look back on everything I’ve accomplished so far.

Manifesting isn’t this crazy concept. It’s based along the principle of speaking things you want in life into existence. You have to focus on specific ideas and the universe will help guide you towards them. I think making room to dream about your future is so important in helping you actually want to work towards it. You’ll see some of these things are huge goals, and others are just small daily things that make my life so much better.

24 Things I Manifested

Wrap Up

As you can see, this list has all sorts of things on it. Whether you manifest, pray, or just set intentions they all do the same thing. Just focus so hard on what you want in your life and just let things take their course.

I am so grateful that I realized how powerful manifesting was and was able to have this list. Manifesting isn’t magic and you won’t over night be able to meet some goals. Living each day focusing on only what you want and letting go of things that don’t serve you will help you reach whatever you want.

I am so grateful to have built this community and am able to continue to share all my favorite things with you. Let me know in the comments if manifesting has worked for you!

Winter Closet Essentials for Cold Weather

January 24, 2022

I have been waiting so patiently to share this list of winter closet essentials with you! I have been curating this list since the weather got cooler and I feel like I might have the best combo of clothes. A lot of people use winter as just a time to stay warm but I think winter fashion is so fun.

The layering aspect of cold weather just makes it fun because you really can’t go wrong. As long as you layer with a color palette in mind, you are seriously good to go. These pieces I have been wearing all winter long so far and think they are winter closet essentials you need.

Aritizia Super Puff- Shop Here

winter closet essentials

When you see the price tag for this jacket you might wonder why I even bothered. I had been looking for a black somewhat cropped puffer for years and when I finally came across this I knew I needed to have it. This keeps me so warm when I’m out walking Sky and even has little built in black hand covers.

I have a jacket obsession but this one really does it for me. The hood can come off and this really can be dressed up or down, there’s no way you can’t wear it. I also just think a jacket is an investment you can’t go wrong with. I was seeing online that this jacket you can get in the next length and make it cropped but I just liked the cropped length best.

Faux Leather Leggings- Shop Here

winter closet essentials

Back again with another Amazon recommendation. These faux leather leggings are everything. I throw them on with a hoodie or a sweater and I just look put together without even trying. Leather pants themselves had been coming back and I just think these are a happy medium.

They’re comfy and easy to literally throw on. The price tag is also hard to beat with these too. I will warn, I did have to purchase a few of these to find the ones that were good quality and actually fit well. I love these and seriously think everyone needs a pair in their closet.

Steve Madden Betty Combat Boots- Shop Here

I really had been going back and forth about getting similar name brand boots to these. They apparently take awhile to break in and weren’t that comfy so I made sure to do my research and found these. I instantly became obsessed and wear these those every where these days.

They are super comfy and the platform is everything I’ve ever needed a more. These are just a great staple shoe for winter when you’re not looking for something too crazy. Winter shoes to me are hard because I just want to be comfy but look good and these do just that.

Ugg Mini- Shop Here

They’re back! I have been plugging these boots on literally every gift guide I’ve done here on the blog and I can finally tell you they’re back on trend. I’ve had my minis for years now because they just hit at the perfect length. They give you the warmth and comfort you want.

These boots are being styled with nicer outfits as well as sweats so I don’t think you can really go wrong with them. I have them in the chestnut and the sand color but am hoping to get maybe black so that I have all the neutrals!

Beanies- Shop Here

I personally was never a beanie gal but something about your head being warm in the winter changed me lol. I personally love the Carhartt beanies because they’re really great quality but any beanie will work. You can really do so much with them. I personally love putting them with a lounge outfit, uggs, and a puffer.

These pieces are all winter closet essentials. I think they’ll probably continue to be trendy because of just how basic they are. Building a wardrobe with basics like these gives you the foundation to create really great looks without having to keep going out to get new items.

I’m all about investing in nicer and a bit more expensive pieces that I know will last. This makes transitioning to different seasons a bit easier because you have a foundation of your closet that you don’t need to go out and buy new things. Not only does it save you money in the long run but you’ll just have quality pieces that will last.

If you liked this posts, you can read a basics post here from November!

My Book Review for 2021

December 20, 2021

I was so excited to write this book review recap as a wrap up for all the books I read this year. During the pandemic, I fell back in love with reading so I really made it my mission to carve out time to read everyday this year. I have read over 50 books so far and we still have a few more days left in the year.

Any content that has to do with a book review is seriously my favorite so I hope this helps you find some new great books. If I broke down every book I read this year, we would be here all day so I’m going to break down my favorite, least favorite, and a few other honorable mentions.

If you like my book review, I highly suggest you check me out on Good Reads and follow me there because that will update you with every book I read! You can also check me out on instagram @bookchatswithcass for my new book instagram!

Least Favorite 2021 Book: Love & Gelato

book review

This was absolutely my own fault with this book. I gravitate towards YA books and I know this is a series so I thought I could get away with it. The book was so rough to get through not only because it was so young but the story itself was like a Mamma Mia wannabe. Honestly I don’t even have much else to write about it other than I would not recommend this to anyone.

Non- Fiction Must Read: The Forever Dog

book review

If you have a dog or even any pet, I would say run to your nearest book store . This was so hard to get my hands on so I actually have a hard copy and a kindle copy. I love the information in this book. It’s written by vets, backed by science, and easy to understand. I want Sky to have the happiest, healthiest life and this book has helped to make some great changes in her life so far.

Opened the Door to a new Genre: Next Year in Havana

As a kid I was very much into Historical Fiction but as an adult I couldn’t really get myself into it. I found Next Year in Havana on a whim in the bookstore and I am so glad it did. Chanel Cleeton did a fantastic job of weaving in important historical events with a story that was written beautifully. After reading this book, I read the second book in the series, When We Left Cuba, and then started to incorporate more Historical Fiction books into my reads.

Top Recommendation: The Giver of Stars

I honestly believe everyone should read this historical fiction book. This was based on a true story about the women would worked under Eleanor Roosevelt’s library program. This program brought books to everyone, even in the most remote locations. In addition, this book shows the lives that women led during this time period and the friendships they formed. This is probably the book I will tell everyone to read. It shows how powerful books and reading really are.

Favorite 2021 Book: Beach Read

I actually struggled with this category because I thought about putting The Giver of Stars but I thought that book wasn’t necessarily my favorite that I read. It is more of a book that I will always refer to when people ask me what to read. Beach Read is actually the second book I read by this author and I love it. Essentially, two others are both dealing with grief and end up being next door neighbors who essentially fall in love. I just loved the twists and turns that it took to get them to the end of the book. I really love this about Emily Henry’s writing.

There’s nothing I love more than a cozy bed and a good book! I hope this book review gave you some inspo for your next read. Be sure to check out some other posts I’ve done one books recommendations too!

Neutral Basics You Need this Winter

November 26, 2021

As many of you know, I rarely wear color so I found it fitting that I share my neutral basics you need this winter. Not only are neutrals trendy but they’re so great to have in your closet year round. I’d like to think I have a capsule wardrobe where I have only what I need and can mix/match but that’s just not true.

My closet has some fun pieces but is many built around neutrals and there’s no better time to rock them then the winter. Bright, fun colors to me are more spring and summer and the neutrals are perfect to pair with the snow.

Here are my must have neutral basics for winter:

Cream Knit Sweater

neutral basics

I put this one first because a cream sweater is seriously the first and most important neutral basic in my winter closet. Whether you pair it with jeans or a skirt, this single piece can get you through the whole winter. I am obsessed with the mock turtle neck on this one from H & M.

Beige Flannel

neutral basics

One trend I’m really into this fall and winter is a flannel to layer with. I paired this beige flannel with my matching set and it seriously looks so cute. It gives you all the fall and winter feels but also makes the outfit complete and warm. This flannel I’m wearing is thrifted but here’s a similar one from Amazon you can shop!

Tan Jacket

I feel like everyone has the big puffy jackets but I think a good tan or camel color is essential for the winter. Peacoat’s are great to elevate a look while still staying super warm. I love this one from J Crew because it’s not too long for my short legs, but it is longer then others. I invested in this piece a few years ago but here’s a similar one from Lulus!

Black Long Sleeve

neutral basics

A black long sleeve is so essential to a winter wardrobe. You can layer with it or wear it alone which makes it the great piece for your closet. A black long sleeve has great versatility so finding one you love and will wear is actually a great addition to your closet. I love the neckline of this one from Lulus because it’ll be flattering on so many bodies!

I love reading posts like these because they really help to get you thinking about what’s in your closet. It also helps me to think about what I should have in my closet and how to create outfits from that. I am a firm believer in you probably have an outfit in your closet but knowing you have basics is so important to ensure that.

I hope you liked this post and got thinking about neutral basics you need in your closet! To read more posts like this, click here!

My Top Secret to Drive Traffic to My Blog

March 19, 2021

I get asked all the time, “cute blog but does anyone actually read it?”. People are shocked to find out yes, actually a lot of people read it, not just family or friends. I learned early on that if I wanted to make my blog a source of income I would need many, many people to read my posts. This lead to months of research trying to find anything that I could do to get traffic to my blog. Read more of my posts on blogs here.

I soon realized, driving traffic and eyes to a blog is a little different for everyone. The one thing I kept coming back to was Pinterest in my research. I could talk on and on about Pinterest and let my social media manager side really come out but for now I will stick to the basics and how I use it as a way to get people to read my posts.

Pinterest Basics

In case you don’t know, Pinterest is a social media app where you can curate boards based on different topics or categories. Pinterest is unique because it is basically a search engine. You type something in the top like you would on Google and many many pins come up. You can click on the pins, save them, or go directly to the link of the website they came from. If you’ve mastered SEO tactics, using Pinterest to create pins that will lead back to your blog should be a piece of cake for you. You can follow me on Pinterest here.

Creating Pins

Every single blog post I create has a corresponding pin. This is super important because the pin is linked to the post on my website. People who see the pin then can click on the link to my website. As you can see from these example pins, I use the same template so that when someone comes to my account there’s a bit of cohesiveness.

Another thing I like to do is post just the images from the blog post without a template. I’ve found that some people on Pinterest like more organic pins and others like the template format. Also, I’ve heard really great things about people who post videos.

The Title, Description, Link, and Alt Text are crucial for you to fill out with keywords. This is where the SEO tactics come in. I do some research by typing in some of the keywords from my blog post in Pinterest and use the ones that generate content similar to mine. I fill my description with keywords and a few hashtags relevant so that people who are searching for my kind of content find it.

Scheduling Pins

One giant tip I have for you is to only focus your energy on one or two social media platforms. For me, I focus on IG Stories and Pinterest. I find I get the most interaction from them and they get me the most link clicks. To save time, I like to use the app Tailwind where it schedules and then posts my pins for me. This is game changing because I can have 20-30 pins going up every week to boost my engagement without me having to sit and do it myself.

Tailwind also has a feature where you can just loop your old pins. This helps my content to show more often. Good analytics and posting frequently is the key to getting your pins seen and links clicked on. Good engagement rates pull your content up higher when someone searches your keywords.

Realizing how useful Pinterest is to me was something that took awhile. I really had to build up my content and post consistently but I cannot reccomend trying it. I used to think that getting traffic to my blog was going to be so difficult with low followers but literally the game changed when I started focusing on Pinterest.

Let me know if you have any questions about Pinterest or if you have any tips for driving traffic to your blog!!
