My Current Favorite Hair Products

March 27, 2023

Similar to last week’s post, I wanted to give an updated favorite hair products post! These current favorites are some of my go to products in really transforming my hair. When I started my blog almost 4 years ago now, I had bright blonde hair. Because of the pandemic, I went back to my roots, literally, and started the journey of getting my hair healthy again.

This past year I’ve truly seen the most growth with my hair and owe it to these products that are so great at maintaining my hair health. Not to mention, also getting a trim every few weeks has done wonders for my hair. As always these are affiliate links and I make a small commission if you choose to purchase these products!

I was so excited when I saw this set because you need to try it! All of the products mentioned are literally a crucial step in my hair care routine. This shampoo and conditioner actually smoothes your hair and gives it the nicest shine. It totally lives up to the name and was a better alternative to Olaplex for me. I love the Drybar and this line became an instant staple in my routine. Not to mention, I think it’s been hydrating my hair so well that it’s helping ti grow long and strong.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Spray

I do still love my It’s a 10 but I have to say I love this more! I spray this on my wet hair and it detangles and leaves it feeling so soft. Not to mention, it has a built in heat protectant so I feel like it’s really taking care of my hair. The lightness of the product works so well for my very thin and fine hair. I never feel like it’s weighed down because it’s just super light.

Drybar 100 Proof Oil

Shop Here

This is my OG tried and true. I cannot say enough great things about this oil and I’m getting concerned it’s being discontinued because I can’t always find it. This is truly the only oil that my hair can handle that doesn’t make it feel super oily or heavy. I love the shine this gives and it truly helps smooth the fly aways.

As you can see, these favorite hair products are really focusing on smoothing and shinning my hair. Now that I’m not blonde, I really just want to make sure my hair is healthy. I also want it to have a nice shine to really give it some dimension! If you liked this post, you can read more hair care posts here!

Summer Hair Essentials for Great Hair!

August 8, 2022

This post is dedicated to the summer hair essentials you need for great hair! I feel like the summer is the hardest month to style your hair because of the heat and humidity. I really love these essentials to style my hair and keep it’s style.

90% of the time I don’t even bother with my hair because it truly get’s so frizzy but I’ve found these help my hair look good. As always these are affiliate links so I make a small commission but there’s no pressure to purchase!

Claw Clips- Click here

summer hair essentials

It’s funny because when I was younger I couldn’t live without a claw clip. They really went out of style and now they’re back. This is a lifesaver for me because when it’s super hot and humid, my hair still looks cute. I love the wrapped look and it just helps give me a style that combats the humidity.

Kristen Ess Hair Spray- Click Here

summer hair essentials

This is seriously my new favorite hair spray! It’s a finishing spray but it really helps me to combat frizz and that humidity. This is also just a great year round product. I seriously love it after I straighten my hair or curl it to really lock in the style.

Slip Silk Hair Ties- Click Here

These hair ties are always a must for my hair essentials. These help to not damage your hair but also really preserve your style. I love both the thick ones like these and the really thin ones because both really do the job.

Drybar 100 Proof- Click Here

This is a serious summer must have for me. After I wash my hair, I can’t not put this stuff in it. It helps to lock in the frizz and keep my hair soft and fresh. This is a really pricy product but I constantly find myself coming back to it because it’s that good.

1 1/2 inch Curling Wand- Click Here

This is a lifesaver on days my hair actually does get frizzy. I love going back in and just re-curling a few pieces of my hair with this bigger barrel to preserve my natural hair. This is a serious life hack because my hair is wavy so just touching up a few pieces saves me time and makes my hair look great.

As you can see these summer hair essentials are far reaching. I seriously cannot live without them because they just help to take the edge off of that humidity. These seriously help my hair stay set all day long!

Revlon Hair Dryer Brush vs Dyson Air Wrap!

May 9, 2022

In my last post about the Dyson, I mentioned that I also had a Revlon Hair Dryer too. I originally purchased this before I was gifted the Dyson so the Revlon and I have some history. I thought it would be super beneficial for you to get an in depth comparison of both.

I feel like when I hear about the Revlon and Dyson dryers, people only talk about the price. I feel like that is only a little part of the comparison between the two. Keep reading if you’re in the market for a new blow dry brush or want to see if the Dyson is actually worth it.

Revlon One Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer- Shop Here

revlon hair dryer

This blow dry brush averages around $60 and is basically a brush that blows out warm air. I love the design of this one because it is so thick and easy to hold. I also like the shape of the brush part because its flat with rounded edges.

This helps to create a really bouncy and curved blow out look that I feel like is really in. However, the blowout look is really the only thing that this gives you. There are no other attachments so you really only can get a blowout every time.

I do like how the blowout comes out and that I can dry and style my damp hair right out of the shower. Similar to the Dyson, you do need your hair mostly dry to avoid damage. My biggest con with this is I can just feel how hot it gets and know it’s not good for my hair. I try not to use this often but it’s so great on nights I take a shower and want my hair styled for the next day.

Dyson Air Wrap- Shop Here

revlon hair dryer vs dyson

This set averages $549.99 and comes with a base and multiple attachments. The Dyson is great because you can blow out, straighten, and curl your hair all with this one device. One slight issue I have with this product is that it’s hard to travel with. I love all the attachments so it just makes everything bulky to bring with it.

Styling wise, the possibilities are seriously endless. I love the brush heads to give me a sleeker blown out look. I actually don’t use the curl barrels that much because no matter what I do the curl just doesn’t stay. I can say that I don’t feel like my hair is being damaged like I do with the Revlon. That doesn’t mean it’s not damaging but I think the Dyson is a bit better on the hair.

Honestly my two big cons are that I wish it had an attachment like the Revlon’s brush. I really like the bouncy and flipped in ends look. I haven’t quite gotten that with the Dyson because the brush it has isn’t that big. I also think the price is super steep for something that you probably don’t need.

Revlon vs Dyson

If you want my honest opinion, you really don’t need the Dyson. It’s a cool tool with crazy technology that helps to minimize heat damage. However, it’s super expensive and honestly, the Revlon does just as a good a job. I feel like the people who are in the market for a drying brush just want a blown out look which the Revlon gives you. The choice is entirely yours, but had I not gotten the Dyson as a gift, I’m not sure I would have purchased it myself.

I hope this revlon hair dryer brush vs Dyson review was helpful! I wish I had something like this to help with my decision. It’s crazy that the Dyson is so expensive that you really have to weigh all the pros and cons of it.

Shampoo Brands I Love

October 29, 2021

I haven’t done a dedicated post to hair care in so long. I think my last post was over the summer about my June Favorites. This post today is dedicated to the shampoo brands I love and can’t live without. One huge part of my hair care journey was finding shampoo that works for me. Buying shampoo brands may seem simple but with so many on the market, it’s important to find one that does what you need.

Here are my top 3 current favorite Shampoo Brands!

Olaplex

I love to use the Olaplex shampoo, conditioner, and mask when I want a deep clean and condition for my hair. This I use almost as a reset for my hair when I’ve been using a lot of heat and just haven’t been treating it the best. Olaplex is definitely a pricy brand but I think it’s necessary to incorporate into your hair care regime. Shop Olaplex Here!

Monday Hair Care

This brand I actually found when I was searching for a clean combo that was sulfate free. I was using the OGX brand prior to them being recalled so I was ready for a brand that was more minimal ingredients and just cleaner. This shampoo and conditioner is super light so I never feel like it weighs down my hair but still gets it clean. Shop Monday Haircare Here!

Not Your Mother’s

shampoo brands

I think Not Your Mother’s will always be a part of my hair care routine. Although I am no longer Blonde, I would highly recommend their blonde shampoo and conditioner. I also used to always use their long term relationship combo when I was trying to grow out my hair. Anything from Not Your Mother’s is pretty good for a drug store brand. Shop Not Your Mother’s Here!

I hope sharing these brands with you makes you want to try one! My hair didn’t start growing until I realized that I needed to start using products that were high quality on my hair. Once I cut out heat and used better products I’ve seen such a difference in my hair!

My Dyson Air Wrap Tutorial

August 20, 2021

I am back again talking all about my Dyson air wrap! Today I am sharing a Dyson air wrap tutorial. This post is about which attachments I use and how I achieve my go to style. I mention in my previous Dyson post that it takes awhile to learn how to use this but once you do, you life is changed! Keep reading to see how I style my hair.

Step 1: Damp Hair

This I find is the most important step. You really can’t just hop out of the shower and try to style your hair. You have to let it dry a bit first before you do anything else. Be sure to use your favorite heat protectant to protect your hair!

Step 2: Brush Attachment

Before the air wrap, I was the gal who straightened her hair before she curled it. With that in mind, it should be no surprise that I use the brush attachment to straighten and dry my hair before I get into the styling. This brush attachment leaves your hair literally so soft and smooth. Most of the time I’ll just stop here. I often don’t need a full on blow out so this still dries my hair and gives it a little style on days I just need to get out of the door.

Step 3 A: Air Wrap Attachment

I decided to mention this attachment because I use it but not often. I originally got the air wrap for this attachment but I just don’t like it as much as I thought I would. The curls this produces don’t hold for me regardless of what I do so my hair just ends up falling after all the work I put into it. I think this attachment would be better on less fine hair so try it out for yourself and see.

Step 3 B: Round Brush Attachment

The round brush attachment has changed my life. I didn’t even use this one in the beginning until I watched a Tik Tok on it. This won’t give you curls but will give you literally the best blowout ever. I am so obsessed with this attachment. Sometimes I’ll quickly go in with this on my bangs to give them some curl and body. Other times I’ll actually wrap all my pieces up and use it as a real curler. Not only does this give you the perfect blowout, it also makes it so easy to do. I never blow dried my hair because it was so hard but this attachment has made it so easy!

I know this post was short and sweet but so many of you asked for it! You wanted a breakdown of exactly how and what I use for the Dyson so I hope this helps. I know it’s a huge investment but for me it really has replaced all of my other hot tools.

Let me know in the comments below your thoughts on the Dyson air wrap tutorial and if you have a favorite attachment!

My Dyson Air Wrap Review

March 5, 2021

dyson air wrap review

Prior to getting the Dyson Air Wrap, I was a straightener and a 1 inch curling iron girl. I almost never used a blow dryer and always just let my hair air dry. I’ve now had the Dyson for 2 months and have consistently used it once or twice per week since. Everyone has been asking my opinion on it so I thought I would put together this review so you can get a feel for this if you want to make the investment. I’m going to first let you know how I use it then summarize some of my person pros and cons!

Before we dive into my Dyson Air Wrap review, I want to first put a hair disclaimer out there. I have very thin hair that doesn’t often hold a curl well and my hair gets incredibly greasy very fast. It’s also important to note that my hair wavy when it dries and it doesn’t usually take long to style because there isn’t a lot of it. If you’re interested in my hair care routine, you can check it out here.

My first step when using the Dyson is to make sure my hair is damp, not fully wet. This helps to not have a lot of heat damage and contains some frizziness that can be created if you use it right out of the shower. Also, always be sure to use a heat protectant when applying any heat to your hair. Once my hair air dries, I use the brush attachment. I love this attachment and it is probably my favorite. It blow dries and straightens out my hair without needing a brush or using another tool.

dyson air wrap attachment

My hair is sleek and straight in about 5 minutes. I literally can now leave my house within like an hour of showering, which was something I never really did. As you can see below, I use this attachment to straighten my hair. It is a little rounded so if you wanted to touch up your ends you could absolutely do that as well.

Depending on the day, the next attachment I go in with is the actual curling barrels. I like to use the thin longer ones. They do sell extra long ones on their website if you have longer hair. I will warn you, they don’t really curly your hair. I find it leaves my hair with a blowout look and not necessarily curls. The air wrap barrels were such a learning curve and even after two months of having this, I still feel like I don’t know how to properly use it.

dyson air wrap review

I find it constantly leaves my hair with great volume as soon as it’s done but it falls out almost immediately. I’ve even tried hair spray and using rollers and it just doesn’t create the curl that I like on my hair like my traditional curler does. One other thing to note, I’m not sure if it’s just me but I get the worst knots in my hair using this attachment. I try to take only a little section of hair but some how will still get knots no matter what.

Aside from those two attachments, I also often reach for the mini blow dryer. This thing is powerful and seriously works. If you are considering the Dyson Blow Dryer or the Air Wrap, I would totally recommend getting the air wrap because for the price, you’re getting so much more than just a blow dryer.

There are more attachments but those three are generally my go to. I don’t think I could live without the brush attachment. In the fall I purchased the Revlon brush but it seriously does not compare to the Dyson. I can live without the air wrap part but I do use it and think the technology behind it is cool and helps to reduce heat on hair.

Okay now here is my pros and cons list of my Dyson Air Wrap Review…

Pros:

One Styling Tool, Multiple Styles with Various Attachments

Fast and Effective

Less Heat Damage

Cons:

Price

Learning Curve

Blowout Not Curl

I think the con that might not make this worth it to everyone is the price. The Dyson Air Wrap is currently $549.99. This is a serious investment that I think might not be worth it if you won’t use it everyday. I started out with a cheaper drying brush but once I was gifted this for my graduation, I won’t go back. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling fried like the cheaper version does. I will admit, I probably will still use my curling iron but I do love all of the other attachments that come with this.

This definitely was a long post to write and I still feel like I might not have covered everything! Please let me know if you have any other questions below about the air wrap. Also, if you know how to make the curls stay and look like curls, let me know lol! I hope this Dyson Air Wrap Review helped you see if this product is right for you!

Summer Hairstyle Ideas

August 4, 2019

Summer is not over yet. I repeat summer is definitely not over yet!!!

Just because it’s August doesn’t mean we have to be totally in back to school mode. I am definitely still thinking of the beach and the nice warm weather that we are still having. One thing I usually seriously struggle with is hairstyles in the summer because the humidity does a number on my hair. I’ve put together some of my favorite hairstyles that look cute, are so easy, and help fight frizzy hair in the summer heat.

My “Elsa” Braid

This braid might look super hard to do but its actually SO easy. First, just make a deep side part. Then, start dutch braiding your hair. To Dutch braid, just start your braid crossing under instead of on top like you would a French braid. (Dutch braids are basically box braids) Once you start braiding all the way down the front side of your head continue the braid and use a hair tie to secure it. I suggest bobby pinning the side of your head thats not braided so that it doesn’t fall apart when you’re pulling the braid out. To pull the braid, just start gently tugging on each side of it until you like how it looks and it starts to mimic a pancake. This braid is so easy and I think its so cute for summer!

My Beach Waves

A lot of people don’t like to use heat on their hair in the summer and that’s okay but I find that curling my hair actually locks in the style and the hairspray seriously helps frizz. I also start with straightened hair and then I just loosely curl my hair with a curling iron. Instead of using the curling iron traditionally, I’ll actually wrap my hair around the barrel like a wand and then use the clamp. I’m not sure how or why but it helps preserve the curl and leave it looking so naturally and wavy. This is seriously one of my fav hairstyles just because it makes you look like you just got out of the ocean.

Crown Braid

This type of braid is definitely more involved and a little trickier but I still love it nonetheless. First I do another deep side part and start braiding half of my hair with a dutch braid. Then, instead of braiding the other half at the top of my head, I start at the nape of my neck and braid all the way up from the bottom. I pull the braid so that it flattens out and then put bobby pins in so that it stays in place. I love love love the look of this braid and think its so perfect for the beach or even for a night out. I like to pull the side pieces out and some from the top so that it gives it an airy, fairy type of feel.

Space Buns

This hairstyle is out of this world! I start by parting my hair down the middle and making it into high pigtails. When you’re making these buns, make sure to pull them out and make them big and messy. I love the look of oversized buns because thin and small ones tend to look super weird on the top of your head. I also like to make sure I pull some pieces of hair down and out at the front to frame my face so that it doesn’t looks super structured.

I absolutely love all of these hairstyles for not only summer but they also could be great for back to school. They’re super easy to do and I think they all look so great. Let me know in the comments below which hairstyle you love most and check out my IGTV video on how I make my Elsa braid! Follow me on Instagram here: @cassiedenisco
