My Pet Travel Essential Must Haves!

July 18, 2022

Traveling with your pet can be so much fun! As long as you have a clear game plan and items to help make your life easier, it can truly be a breeze. I wanted to share my pet travel essential items with you so can bring your pup wherever you go!

My biggest tip for traveling with your pet is plan it out right. We like to leave either first thing in the morning after she has breakfast and pottys or at night after dinner. It just helps to eliminate potty trips and we know she’ll be ready to sleep.

Pet Carrier- Click Here

I think this one depends on where you’re going but I love this carrier from wild one. It is perfect to pop sky in and just go. Wild One also has an airplane carrier too at I would be interested in testing out because it’s TSA approved. Carriers are just great when you don’t necessarily want your pet on a leash and need to comfortably carry them.

Stroller Fan- Click Here

This is absolutely a stroller fan for babies but is so perfect for your pet. I like it in the back seat with Sky when traveling just to ensure the air is reaching her and keeping her cool. I like that this is portable so it can come on walks, in the car, or just use it in the house on really hot summer days.

Car Seat- Click Here

I have shared my Pup Saver car seat so many times but we’ve found on a longer drive, this kind of carseat is way comfier for her. It is similar to her bed so she can just curl up and sleep. Car seats are essential in keeping your bet save and I love this one to keep her comfy.

Calming Treats- Click Here

We’re not big on calming supplements for Sky but these treats are great. Not only do they smell great but they have some ingredients that help promote relaxation. She usually is fine in the car but I like to have something like this on hand just to be sure we’re covered if she gets a little anxious.

Travel Water Bottle- Click Here

This water bottle is definitely the most important travel essential. I love that the water goes back in the bottle so that it can save the rest. This is great just to have on a daily basis and it’s super inexpensive.

As you can see, these pet travel essential products are wide ranging. Sometimes it can be really overwhelming if you are unprepared. I hope these travel products help you and your pet have the best trip ever!

Pet Friendly Lake George Spots!

June 6, 2022

As the weather gets warmer, I figured we could step into the world of travel together! As many of you know I’m from New York and aside from the beach, these pet friendly Lake George spots are my favorite to visit when it gets warm!

I’m going to share some of my favorite and go to Lake George spots that you can’t miss when traveling there. From restaurants and breakfast spots to shopping and entertainment, I have a little something that your whole family will enjoy!

Bears Cup- Bolton Landing, NY

All I can say is if you don’t grab a coffee, pastry or delicious bagel sandwich at Bear’s Cup, what are you doing? This is the place to go for breakfast near Lake George! We instantly became obsessed with their Oatmilk Iced Chai and their Bear Claw pastry. The lines are definitely long so bring some whatever for the pup on the weekend! The owners are also opening a new restaurant right next door so we are incredibly excited to report back after our visit!

Bolton was a nice walk but there really wasn’t too much to see. We were able to find a teeny little park for Sky so it ended up being a great morning.

Walk Near Lake George Steamboat Company- Lake George Village

If you’re looking for a great morning walk, we took one down near the big steamboats in the village. As you can see, the view is beautiful and was a great walk for Sky. They even had a little stand where they were offering treats and water for dogs. It was so calming and a really great way to get a walk in with a gorgeous view.

We originally went to try to switch up our breakfast place but we ended up having the worst breakfast of our entire trip and immediately went right back to Bear’s Cup. Pro tip: Lake George Village is tolerable during the day and first thing in the morning any other time, avoid it at all costs!

Northway Brewing Company- Queensbury, New York

I am not a drinker but this was great for the whole family! They had great food, drinks, and pets were allowed in their outdoor area. We also had a baby with us and she was entertained the whole time too! We were looking to do something other than a walk and this was exactly what we were looking for.

Sky enjoyed meeting the other pups that were there and it as just a really lovely visit. Apparently the beer was good too because we took home some cans for later!

Go for A Swim- Lake George Dog Beach

We were fortunate enough to stay in a place that pet’s are allowed and can swim. Lake George actually has a dog beach for your pup to swim and play! We also had a boat and took Sky on it and she wasn’t so sure about it but the memories were just everything!

Sky is a French Bulldog so because she’s top heavy, she needs a life jacket! You can click here to shop the one she’s wearing!

I hope this post gave you some fun ideas of things to do with your pup! These pet friendly Lake George spots were so much fun to visit and are definitely places we’ll be back to! Let me know if you like this post and maybe we can make it a series of more pet friendly travel destinations!

My Travel Essentials

June 24, 2019

Whether you’re traveling internationally or just taking a road trip to a local destination, what you’re packing is pretty much the same. My summers are always packed with vacations so I like to think of myself as a travel guru. I posted an Over Packers Guide to Packing before my Pennsylvania trip in May so definitely check that out if you’re like me and feel like you need your whole closet for a weekend trip. Here’s my list of travel essentials that I can’t live without while on vacay.

  1. Headphones

Traveling with headphones just makes travel so much better. Whether you’re trying to block out noise on a flight or listening to your favorite podcast on the beach, headphones make everything better.

2. Your Own Skin/Hair Care Products

You would be surprised at how many people I meet who say that they use hotel soap, shampoo, & conditioner. Of course there’s nothing wrong with them but being consistent with your products from home is key to getting the best results and looking your best while on vacation. So many brands have come out with travel size of their products or you can buy containers like these that you can put your products into.

3. A Jacket

Regardless of if you’re going on a tropical vacation or not, you should definitely bring a jacket with you. I know it might sound silly but often times places will get super cold at night or a restaurants AC will be unbearable. A simple jacket is a must have for comfort and will usually make any outfit super cute.

4. Rain Gear

I can’t tell you how many trips I’ve been on that I’ve left my rain jacket at home and it just rains for days. Being wet from the rain is the worst feeling and even if your rain jacket or umbrella takes up some space in your suitcase, you’d rather be safe and dry then wet and sorry on your vacation.

5. Laundry Bag

I might sound crazy but it is so annoying to have your dirty clothes with your nice clean clothes in your suitcase. Not to mention, it already makes the dreaded laundry day post vacation so much more difficult because you have to stand their and sort through what’s clean or not. I like to use a either half of my suitcase for dirty clothes or some sort of bag that can fit in my suitcase with the dirty clothes.

6. Chargers

Make a sticky note or put a reminder on your phone but don’t forget to bring the chargers for your electronics!! I hate when I’ve left a phone charger at home and then have to go out a purchase a brand new one knowing I have a perfectly good one at home.

7. Bring Sneakers

Even if you don’t plan on taking a hike on your vacation, I always like to bring at least one pair of good, comfortable sneakers to wear. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten blisters on my feet from the only cute sandals I packed with me on vacation. At least if you bring a pair of sneakers, you’ll be able to give your feet some relief.

These are just a few of my travel essentials. I love making sure that bring the comfort of home with me while I’m on vacation. I know how hard it is to want to make sure you don’t forget anything while worrying about being over packed. Let me know in the comments below if you have any travel essentials you can’t live without!

The Over- Packers Guide to Packing

May 25, 2019

We all love to travel but I hate to pack! For me, I get so stressed out trying to condense my whole closet into one suitcase either for a weekend or for a week. A lot of people use the plan out your days and outfits before you go trick but that doesn’t work for me at all. As someone who likes to base outfits off of what I’m feeling that day, it doesn’t always work for me. Here are my go to travel essentials and packing tips!

Pick 1 – 2 Types of Denim

I love wearing jeans in the summer when I go out to dinner but I realize that during the day, they can often make you hot and uncomfortable. I like to pack at least 1 pair of denim shorts and 1 pair of jeans but make sure that they’re different washes. This helps to plan outfits because I’ll have two denim washes and the two different types of pants that I would need to get me through the trip!

Don’t Overdo it On PJ’s

When you’re packing for a week, it can seem so daunting. Everyone always feels like they need at least 5 or 6 pairs of pajamas so that they’re set for each night. For me, I like to divide the number of days that I’m on vacation for by 2 and then pack half of that number with long pants and shirts and the other half with shorts. This helps to create more space in your suitcase while still having enough of variety of pajamas whether it be too hot or too cold.

Leave Bigger Items Out

I know how hard it is to make sure that you have all of your clothes and then also have a jacket or sweatpants for the occasional cold nights. I always like to make sure that I wear my heaviest jacket or sweatpants to the airport or car ride so that I can save as much suitcase space. If I’m wearing the sweatpants to the airport, I compensate for the heat with a smaller t-shirt on top in case I’m too hot.

Bring the Necessities.. and then Some

One area that I really don’t like to under pack on is my health and beauty products. For me, I would rather have all of my favorite face products then a million bathing suits. Staying consistent with the products you use is so crucial and, especially on vacation when you’ll be in the sun, maintaining your product use is so important. I love investing in really good beauty travel bags so that I know all of my products are properly protected. Nothing is worse then getting to you destination and having all of you products either exploded or broken.

Although these tips won’t work for everyone every time they travel, I hope that if you’re like me and love to over pack, you find something new to try! Making sure I have everything that I want or need for a vacation is a very daunting task especially with limited suitcase room depending on your vehicle for travel. I hope these tips help you with your adventures this summer!
