French Bulldog Health Essentials

I get questions all the time about what I give Sky to keep her looking great. Often times with Frenchies they can get some health complications if you don’t keep up with them. This post is dedicated to my French Bulldog health essentials to keep your pet happy and healthy.

I have lots of French Bulldog posts, but I really wanted to do an updated one as I’ve been using some newer products for Sky! Whether you have a Frenchie or any dog, these products will be perfect to keep your dog happy and healthy.

Solid Gold Fish Oil

We got a recommendation from her vet to increase her fish oil intake to help keep her itchies at bay. She doesn’t have major allergies but we definitely know certain times of year she’s itchier and redder than others. I love this brand because this fish oil is a blend of fishes so she’s really getting a variety of nutrients. I also like this brand because its on the more natural side and doesn’t have all those crazy ingredients in it.

Probiotic

This was another vet recommendation but I’m a firm believer in probiotics and gut health. I take a probiotic and definitely benefit from it so I definitely wanted her to take one too. Your gut is so vital to your health in all aspects so taking things to help it work at its best just means overall wellness for you. It’s super similar for your dogs too. From allergies to just potty schedules a probiotic can help with a lot.

Glucosamine

This was a supplement I did my own research on and then her vet agreed with. Glucosamine is for dogs hips and joints. If you know anything about Frenchies, some of their main health issues are IVDD which is back problems and hip dysplasia. I really wanted to start her as soon as possible to keep up with her joints to help minimize those issues. Both of them are genetic so it could happen either way, but I wanted the reassurance that I’m keeping her joints and bones super healthy.

These are definitely supplements I’ve really seen a big difference in Sky and her french bulldog health. Frenchies are the best dogs but you have to be willing to work at their health because a lot of pups do have some health problems just because of the breed. Dog Mom Hacks I Can’t Live Without!

I feel like I’m constantly on the hunt for things that make my life easier! Being a dog mom, I’m always interested in finding dog mom hacks to make life move easier!

I feel like this past month I really was intentional with my purchases for my Frenchie and found some really great items. I have a little bit of everything to share this month to help you whether your a new dog mom or an old pro!

Beis Carrier

This is definitely pricy but I’ve had my eyes on this for awhile now! I wanted a carrier for Sky for when we travel or just go out in the car since she hates her carseats. This seriously does the trick. She definitely doesn’t like it but it holds her in place and forces her to just lay down.

I also love this because you can flip it the other way and wear it as a backpack. This is TSA approved so if we ever want to hop on plane Sky is good to go which I also love. This is seriously game changing and I can’t wait for our travels this summer!

Bone Holder

I was very against giving Sky any sort of bone for awhile because I really have a fear of her choking. Now, not all bones are good bones however you need to decide which you will give your dog yourself. I love this tool because you can screw the bone into place so it won’t move.

You don’t have to worry about your dog shoving the whole bone down their throat or breaking off too big of pieces. Sky loved this because it helps to hold the bone up for her so it definitely is worth it to me. Not to mention it’s pretty inexpensive and gives you just a little peace of mind. Just remember you should always watch your dog eating any sort of bone.

Produce Containers

We’ve been switching Sky over from “dog treats” to more fresh treats like fruits and veggies. I love having storage containers in the fridge like this out and accessible. I wash the produce and pop it in these in the fridge. It keeps her treats easy to reach for.

We do still love our Bocce’s but I’ve found she just does better overall with more fresh foods in her diet. These containers are even great if you aren’t a dog mom because they’ll make choosing healthier snacks easier.

I absolutely love this time of year because I love sharing my gift guides! I figured I would kick off this series with the best Christmas presents for pets! Furry friends are usually the easiest to grab for but I wanted to put together this really unique list of presents you’ll both love!

I love shopping for my Frenchie Sky all year so I always find Christmas to be tricky! You don’t want to purchase too many things you know they won’t use but you want to make them feel like part of the family! This list is actual things I am planning on or already have purchased for her this year!

This camera will truly be game changer as I have the original but this one swivels! You can turn it all the way around which means you have full view of the room your pet is in. I have such piece of mind knowing I can see Sky when I’m not home and I love that now I can literally see everything. I also pay for the Furbo dog nanny subscription which means it sends me all sorts of notifications on things she’s doing! This is also a great gift idea if you don’t want a whole new camera!

Now that the world is open again we’ve been doing a lot of traveling with Sky! For some reason she only likes to sit on my lap in the car which isn’t safe at all so she will be getting this travel carrier this Christmas! We’ve tried car seat but I love this one because it’s TSA approved and fits dogs up to 30 lbs which she is! I like that this expands and has an attachment to slide a seatbelt through or just your suitcase handles so she’s secure!

Now this was something I didn’t know I needed, until I got it! I joked for awhile that I was getting stroller for long walks but I finally got one and it has changed everything! First of all, Sky loves it! We went to the boardwalk with it and she even walked around on Halloween in it! It’s perfect for her when we’re in busy places that make be nervous to have her on the leash. This one was also incredibly inexpensive and she fits perfectly in it.

Sky and I are obsessed with this hands free leash! It makes my life so easy because I have 2 hands to do whatever I need with. She’s also not big so this works perfectly for us because she’s not pulling me down. This is perfect for coffee runs or now as it gets colder you can keep your hands warm in your pockets and she still gets a walk in!

Pet Favorites I Can’t Live Without!

Now that I’m a dog mom, I am always on the look out for new pet favorites. Today’s bonus post is dedicated to all the products I’ve found that make life so much easier. I think that the key to having a pet is finding products that work for the both of you.

As we head into the warmer months, I find myself grabbing for these products even more on walks and trips. I have affiliate links to each product below but there is no pressure to purchase from them!

Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag- Shop Here

This little bag is essential for my walks. I find that since we’re not wearing jackets in the spring with pockets, I need something like this. It perfectly fits my phone, keys, and of course treats for Sky.

Not only is this bag functional but I love that it is stylish and comes in lots of colors. This was also a great travel bag when we were on vacation but it fit everything I’d want to carry!

Snuffle Mat- Shop Here

At first glance you’re probably like you are crazy. This snuggle mat is seriously the greatest part of Sky’s day. I throw some treats in it, pull it smaller, and then she’s busy for about 15 minutes.

Enrichment toys like this are a great addition to your dogs day. They help to keep your dog busy and stimulate their brains. I like these especially on rainy days when Sky doesn’t want to walk but I know she needs to do something.

Sky picked these out herself when we were at the pet store. They were on a bottom shelf and she wouldn’t stop sniffing them. She ended up loving them so we are now freeze dried raw people.

It’s funny because these used to gross me out but they really have a lot of health benefits for pups. I use these as a high value treat for her when we’re out and about and I need her attention.

French Bulldog Life Hacks You Need to Know

I love my french bulldog but as many of you know, they are a very particular breed. After having her for now 2 years I can say I have found many french bulldog life hacks that I want to share. I love this breed but you have to be prepared to care for them and their many needs. You can read more posts like these here!

Bentonite Clay Shampoo

I’ve found that shampoos with Bentonite Clay work wonders for my ichy Frenchie. This class has been shown to work wonders for itch and hotspots which is something Sky suffers from over the summer. I love the Moosh brand shampoo because it’s all natural and doesn’t have harsh cleaning chemicals. For me, I would never want to put something on her skin that would potentially have bad effects later on. I stick to all natural and organic ointments and creams. This shampoo does the job to clean her and keep her skin soft and itch free.

Dasuquin Hip and Joint Supplements

I became interested in giving her hip and joint supplements after some research. Dasuquin was recommended to me by my vet so I have just stuck with it. Starting a pet on hip and joint supplements early, especially if they are a breed prone to issues, can help lessen the chances of developing major issues down the road. One thing I’ve learned with French Bulldogs is the key is to make sure they are bred well and then do everything you can for preventative care.

Portable Fan

This one is life changing. Everyone knows Frenchie’s overheat easily so it’s important to have ways to cool them down. I am obsessed with this little fan because it’s perfect to carry for her wherever we go. The flexible legs are great because I’ll attach them to her carseat in the car to give her an added level of coolness. This little fan from Amazon is powerful and I actually got the recommendation from my cousin who uses this on a baby stroller.

Life Jacket

Because Frenchie’s are top heavy, this French Bulldog life hacks is essential. Life jackets might seem pointless but they can save your pups life. We have this one from ruff wear because we needed one that would prop her head up enough. Some have a buckle around the neck but we need one that was all floating material to support her head so that she can’t get her head stuck.

Dog Treat Brands I Love

I am back again with another post dedicated to our furry friends. Sky is almost 2 1/2 years old and it has literally taken that long to find dog treat brands that I love and trust. She is my first dog on my own so I was starting from scratch when finding products to use.

I’m sharing my top two dog treat brands that are awesome products to feed your pet. One of my major determining factors when choosing treats is if I know all of the products that go into it. The other factor is having minimal ingredients. If I wouldn’t eat it myself, I would never give it to my dog!

Bocce’s Bakery

This brand I actually found on a whim. I was searching through the pet store and just couldn’t find treats that I felt comfortable giving my pup. Once I found this brand, I was instantly obsessed. I was drawn to these in particular beause I knew every single ingredient that was in them and the ingredient list wasn’t long.

The range of treats that Bocce’s is coming out with is also amazing. They have everything from training treats to dog biscuits as well as new wellness lines that they are coming out with. Sky loves literally every kind of treat from them so they get a 5/5 rating from us!

Full Moon Dog Treats

I absolutely love Full Moon because they are human grade. This is so important to me because I want Sky to be eating quality foods that don’t have weird hidden ingredients. Not only are they human grade but they often have like 1-3 ingredients, the first being the meat.

Sky loves these and so do I. Some of their products are even organic which is another plus in my eyes. They have a wide range of flavors like chicken and duck so you’re sure to find something your pup will love.

With any set of nutrition facts, you always want the first ingredient to be the ingredient the product is supposed to be. This ensures that the largest amount of the product is the ingredient you want it to be and not fillers.
